For basics of Tcl scripting, see the documentation at www.tcl.tk
For VMD specific examples, I'd suggest the VMD User's Guide, or the
VMD tutorial for starters:

I'd suggest talking to Jan about how to best use these various pbc
scripts since he wrote them. His address is: saam_at_charite.de
