Three determined attempts at Suicide.
--On Christmas day, a man named Stage, a German soldier, threw himself across the track of the New York Central railroad, near the elevator, as an engine was backing down with some cars, but one of the employees saw him and pulled him off the track. He then went to the basin and jumped head first against the ice, but he failed to break it; and information being given to an officer, he was arrested and taken to the third precinct station-house. Here, while standing at the desk, he saw a jack-knife, which had been taken from a prisoner. He seized it and tried to stab himself, but an officer took the knife from him and his hands were shackled. He was sent to jail.--Albany Argus.
