Senate.
The joint resolution of the House of Delegates providing for the adjournment of both Houses on Wednesday, 21st instant, to Wednesday, the 4th of January, 1865, was so amended as to provide for its adjournment till the 9th of January.
The Committee on Finance were instructed to inquire into and report what action, if any, be necessary by the General Assembly to protect the bonds of the Commonwealth from ruinous taxation by the Confederate States Government.
On motion of Mr. Christian, of Augusta, the Senate adjourned.
House of Delegates.
The House met at noon, and was opened with prayer by Rev. Dr. Jeter.A bill was reported from the Committee on Printing, changing the time for the commencement of the term of office of the Public Printer; and the bill passed to its second reading.
Mr. Pendleton called up his joint resolutions on the existing war and the determination of Virginia in the struggle; and the resolutions, after much discussion and amendment, were referred to the Committee on Confederate Relations.
The House reconsidered the resolution by which the body agreed to adjourn over on the 21st instant (Wednesday) to the 4th of January, and made their action conform to that of the Senate, which voted to adjourn over on that day to the 9th of January.
On motion of Mr. Brooke the body adjourned.
