Try to save the wounded.

--If our citizens were properly alive to the necessity of prompt action in relieving the wounded, the apathy that seems to pervade this wonderfully phlegmatic community would no longer exist. A wound in this excessively hot weather will begin to mortify in an incredibly short time. There being no friendly hands to bear them from the field, many of our wounded die for the want of a little timely attention. In the name of patriotism and humanity, then, let every man who has a vehicle proceed at once, and daily, to the battle-field, and bring away as many of the wounded as they can accommodate. This is due to their courage and the work they have accomplished as well as to humanity.
