Riot at Norfolk.
--We learn on good authority that a few days ago there was a serious riot at Norfolk, which threatened fearful consequences. It appears that a large number of stolen and runaway ‘ "contrabands,"’ said to be 5,000, were collected on the wharf, for what purpose they did not know.--Presently a steamer ran alongside and a movement was made to embark the slaves. They resisted and protested their unwillingness to be taken off. Force was attempted, and a serious riot was the consequence. We have not learned the result.--Raleigh Register.
