James City county.
We had an interview with a gentleman who ran the blockade from this county, and reached Richmond yesterday morning. He states that the enemy are indiscriminately arresting the citizens of James and Charles City counties, and sending them off to Fortress Monroe. The pickets of McClellan extend from Berkeley entirely across the county of Charles City, and every species of stock is being driven off, without the mention of compensation. When our informant crossed the Chickahominy on Monday morning, it was reported that the Federal army was gradually advancing. He reports the force in James City as very small, not exceeding, in his estimation, more than three hundred. These seem to be there for no other purpose than to arrest and plunder.
