Difficulty between the Republic of Liberia and Spain.

--The negro Republic of Liberia has a quarrel on its hands with Spain that is likely to bring upon it a terrible chastisement:

The Monrovia (Liberia) correspondent of the Boston Journal writes that a naval engagement took place in that harbor on the 11th, a Spanish war steamer being badly beaten in an attempt to revenge on the Liberian authorities. It seems that the Liberian schooner Quail overhauled and burned a Spanish slaver in Galinas river some months before. The Spanish Governor at Fernando Po became greatly enraged at hearing of it, and ordered a war steamer to proceed to Monrovia and either sink or capture the Quail.
