A duel.

--A duel was fought on Bloody Island on Sunday afternoon, about four o'clock. One of the parties to the affair had three fingers shot off, and the performance was then concluded. The pistol shots were distinctly heard at the Central Police Station. A lady was the cause of the difficulty. The challenged party took certain liberties with the fair one during the absence of the party sending the challenge. Pistols and Bloody Island were accordingly resorted to. --St. Louis Republican, 10th.
