Southern Pacific Railroad.

--From the Caddo Gazette, of Saturday last, we extract the following:

‘ We learn from reliable parties that the Southern Pacific Railroad is now graded from Jonesville to the Louisiana line, at the terminus of the Vicksburg, Shreveport, and Texas Railroad. The Southern Pacific Company are very anxious to make a connection with us, and many of the Company are willing to take up the track to the lake and loan it to us to lay our track through this parish. We feel confident that an arrangement could be made which would prove eventually beneficial to both roads. Will our enterprising president take this matter under consideration, and give us the benefit of the investment we have made?

’ A sufficient amount of iron can be procured to complete our division, and both companies in laying the track.

Negro labor can be employed as soon as cotton picking is over, for the planters will not raise as much cotton next year, and a large number of hands may be detailed on public works.
