The Patent office.
--The business of the Patent Office has increased so rapidly that the apartments hitherto occupied are altogether too circumscribed, and the office will to-day be removed to more commodious rooms in the third story of the Government building on Ninth street. We are gratified to learn that the office is now self sustaining, a fact which shows that the South is not backing in inventive resources, which the war has had the good effect of bringing to light. A considerable proportion of the applications are for improvements in fire-arms and projectiles, though there are many inventions, both ingenious and useful.
