London Stock Exchange.
--It is one of the most remarkable features of London wealth. The Government securities alone, and which constitute the national debt, amount to $4500,000,000; the railway stocks to $1,500,000,000; those of the Bank of England to $150,000,000; to other banks, to $350,000,000; employed in discounting, $380,000,000; and, besides this, there are shares in canals, foreign lands, &c., to an almost unlimited amount. The stock market is very susceptible of being influenced by political events. The day that it was rumored that Russia and France had formed an alliance, bonds, &c., depreciated $250,000,000, and seventy firms suspended.
