Garlington, Ernest A. 1853-

Military officer; born in Newberry Court-house, S. C., Feb. 20, 1853; graduated at the United States Military Academy in 1876; commanded the Greeley Relief Expedition in 1883 (see Arctic exploration) ; was inspector-general of a cavalry division in Cuba in 1898, and participated in the siege of Santiago. His publications include Historical sketches of the 7th cavalry Regiment; Cavalry outposts, Advance and rear Guards; Reconnoissance, etc.
