AQUAE CA´LIDAE

AQUAE CA´LIDAE (Hammam Gurbos, with hot springs), in Zeugitana, on the gulf of Carthage, directly opposite to the city: probably identical with CARPIS (Liv. 30.24; Tab. Peut., ad Aquas; Shaw, p. 157, or p. 87, 2nd ed.; Barth, Wander-ungen, &c. p. 128.) There are also hot springs at Hamman l'Enf, near the bottom of the Gulf, which may be those mentioned by Strabo as near Tunes (xvii. p. 834).
