ANTHEIA

ANTHEIA (Ἄνθεια: Eth. Ἀνθεύς).

A town in Messenia, mentioned by Homer (Hom. Il. 9.151), who gives it the epithet Βαθυγείμων, supposed by later writers to be the same as Thuria, though some identified it with Asine. (Strab. viii. p.360; Paus. 4.31.1; Leake, Morea, vol. i. p. 453.)
