CARRA´GO

CARRA´GO a kind of fortification, consisting of a great number of waggons placed round an army. It was employed by barbarous nations, as, for instance, the Scythians (Trebell. Poll. Gallien. 13), Gauls [CARPENTUM], and Goths (Amm. Marc. 31.7.7). Compare Veget. 3.10.

Carrago also signifies sometimes the baggage of an army. (Trebell. Poll. Claud. 8; Vopisc. Aurelian. 11.)
