BAU´CIDES
BAU´CIDES (βαυκίδες), a kind of costly shoe of a saffron colour (Poll. 7.99), worn exclusively by women. It was also called βουκίδιον. Kock on Aristophanes (Frag. 342 quotes Aspasius (on Aristot. Eth. 58 a) to the effect that it was an Ionian shoe worn especially by the Ionian women. It is mentioned also by Alexis (Frag. 98, 7, Kock).[L.C.P]
