Tuesday, March 4th, 1862.
The Senate was called to order at 11 o'clk by the President.
Prayer by Rev. Dr. Jeter.
A message was received from the House of Delegates that it had agreed to a join resolution declaring the intent and meaning of an act providing for raising Virginia's quota of the Confederate army, and the appointment of a joint committee to take into consideration the communication made by the Executive on the 3d of March to the General Assembly, in regard to the execution of the acts of 8th and 10th February, 1862.
The unfinished business of yesterday, viz: The bill authorizing the civil authorities of the Commonwealth to render aid in arresting deserters from military service, was taken up and laid on the table.
House joint resolution for the election of certain State officials on the 6th of March, was taken up and agreed to.
