Robert Swinger (search for this): article 4
Shocking accident.
--Man Killed.--Robert Swinger, of Woodstock, a brakeman on the Manassas Gap Railroad, was instantly killed on the road on Sunday afternoon of last week, somewhere on the eastern end of the road.
He jumped on the tender from the next car to it, and fell backwards, when the whole train passed over him, crushing and mangling his body horribly, and, of course, producing instantaneous death.
His absence on the train from which he had started was not discovered until the next train came on, which also passed over his body.-- Rockingham Register, 10th.
