--Company "A," First Regiment--held their annual meeting on Tuesday night, for the purpose of electing non-commissioned officers and transacting other business.

New cannon.
--A model of the cannon recently invented by Lorenzo Sibert, of Augusta, has been deposited at this office.
It is a revolver, and can be discharged nine times ere its power is exhausted.
Col. Smith, of the V. M. I., thinks highly of it. The Legislature have recently chartered the Staunton Ordnance and Arms Manufacturing Company, who will engage in its manufacture.
