Hustings Court.
--The quarterly term of the Hustings Court commenced yesterday--Aldermen Sanxay, Bray, Binford, Hill, Timberlake, Regnault and Trabue presiding.
Commonwealth vs. West & Son, for permitting their slave Peter to go at large — fined $10.
Wm. Gouldin, for selling goods, wares and merchandize without a license, was fined $20 and costs.
In two other cases against the same party, a nolle prosequi was entered on payment of costs.
Robert, a slave, the property of Chas. Jones, was tried for breaking and entering the house of James Hamilton, found guilty and sentenced to thirty-nine lashes.
Alexander, slave of Rhoda Brown, and Hanover, slave of G. W. H. Tyler, were found guilty of stealing $10 worth of articles from said Tyler's house, and sentenced to twenty-five lashes each.
Andrew, slave of Robert S. Waddill, plead guilty to the charge of stealing a gold watch and chain from Jas. J. Utz, and was awarded thirty-nine lashes.
