At the present time, almost every principal sect into which the Christian Church is divided has its representatives in Cambridge; and the introduction of a new sect produces comparatively little commotion.
But in the beginning it was not so. For a few years after the settlement of New England by the Puritans, the churches had rest; but in 1636, the country was miserably distracted by a storm of Antinomian and Famalistical opinions then raised.
