A bill to amend and re-enact section 37 of chapter 38 of the Code. Mr. Baker introduced a resolution looking to the convoking of a convention of the farmers and planters of Virginia, and the other Southern States, through their Legislatures, for the purpose of increasing the production of food, and regulating the price of the same. Arrests. --On Saturday night and Sunday last the following parties were arrested and locked up in the upper and lower stationhouses for safekeeping: Albert, slave of the Confederate States, was taken in custody for going about the streets with a loaded rifle in his possession, the property of the Confederate States. The police arrested, on Saturday night, a negro man named Burwell, belonging to Richard Adams, who was without a pass and had been guilty of breaking in the glass door of E. D Echo's office, on 14th street. The case will be before the Mayor this morning for examination. A negro man, named Henry, slave of William Lewis, was taken in custody yesterday, near Port Mayo, by some soldiers, who charged him with stealing one cow, valued at $200, the property of Mrs. Dougherty. A slave, named Joseph, the property of Wm. Hardgrove, was arrested as a participant in the same offence. They were locked up in the lower station house. Dandridge, the property of
