The Legislature. In the Senate, yesterday, Mr. Alderson introduced a resolution that the Governor send an agent to the Kanawha salt works to ascertain and report, without delay, the quantity of salt on hand there, the facilities for making it, how many furnaces are in operation, and how much salt can probably be provided per month, and such other fact, at the said agent may see proper to communicate. The resolution was referred to the Committee on Salt. Mr. Frasier introduced a resolution inquiring into the expediency of authorizing experimental boring for salt water near Clifton Forge and the county line between Rockbridge and Botetourt counties, at or near Big Lick, in Roanoke and at such other places in the Commonwealth as may furnish indications of the presence of brine, and that a reasonable appropriation be made to defray the expense of such borings, and that the Governor be authorized to appoint Commissioners to superintend the work.
