Paying up.
--The First Auditor's Office has been besieged for a past week by county Sheriffs, who visit the metropolis to pay the revenue due the 15th of March. A law was recently passed by the General Assembly to favor those who promptly shelled out the rhino.

The vote in Petersburg. Petersburg, Va., March 15.
--The polls closed at sunset to-day, with the following result: Whole vote 1641; for secession 879, against 762.
The Union vote in February was 1089, against 427 for secession.
There was an immense procession at the close of the polls, displaying the secession flag, and headed by music, which escorted Hon. Roger A. Pryor to the depot, that gentleman speaking in Richmond to-night.
Storm at Norfolk. Norfolk, March 15.
--There was a heavy snow storm and blow here last night.
It is thought much damage was done on the coast.
The steamers Ben Deford, for Boston, and Adelaide, for Baltimore, were detained by it. Early fruit and vegetables are probably destroyed.

The Texan troops to be removed. New York, March 15.
--The steamships Mohawk and Empire City sailed to-day for Indianola, Texas, to bring home the U. S. troops there.
The Star of the West had been previously sent, and the Coatzacoalcos has been chartered for the same purpose.

--Vice-President Stephens passed through here to-day, en route for Savannah.
He was received with a salute of artillery.
