Hello, hello!
It's a wee bit late (I'm trying to post these around the fifteenth ... ), but it's here - February's FREE Crochet Pattern of the Month, AKA POTM ... is that a weird acronym? I'm just really tired of typing, "Crochet Pattern of the Month".
So I have acronym-ed. So it shall be.

The Rainy Day Scarf
Hello, everybody!
It's officially autumn! You know what that means?
It's SCARF TIME!
Here's the crochet pattern for my Rainy Day Scarf. It's great for using up leftover yarn from other projects. Plus, it's adorable. And colorful. And also, adorable.
Need I say more?
I used a size G hook and worsted weight yarn. Abbreviations are as follows:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
sc = single crochet
For the scarf:
Begin with a foundation chain of 240. This scarf is quite long, so feel free to decrease the number of chains here if you'd like something shorter.
Ch 3, turn. DC in each ch to end. Join next color. *Ch 3, turn. Dc in each dc to end. Join next color.* Repeat from * to * with each color. Finish off. Weave in ends.
For the clouds:
Ch 27. Skip 4, SC in fifth ch from hook. *Ch 2, skip 1 ch, 1 sc.* Repeat from * to * to end. Turn.
*Sc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, sc* in ch 2 space. Repeat from * to * in each ch 2 space and beginning ch 4 space.
Finish off.
Crochet four of these ruffle pieces.
Now make four shorter ones:
Ch 19. Skip 4, SC in fifth ch from hook. *Ch 2, skip 1 ch, 1 sc*. Repeat from * to * to end. Turn.
*SC, Ch 1, 3 DC, Ch 1, SC* in ch 2 space. Repeat from * to * and finish in beginning ch 4 space.
Finish off.
Sew ruffles to both sides of scarf in spiral patterns.
Weave in ends and say "Voila!" You now have your very own personal rainbow!

Ode to the Mustache
Mustaches are a pop culture phenomenon these days. From mugs to pencils to finger tattoos, the mustache dominates as a symbol of trendy eclecticism (and manly awesomeness, of course). Did you know there is even an American Mustache Institute? There's your weird, random fact for the day. Now let's get down to bid-ness.
There's a better way to create some sweet fake face fuzz ... crochet! I searched the WWW untold hours for a free pattern, but couldn't find one I liked. Instead, I made one up!
This mustache is not too big, not too small. It works for big people and little people alike. And it is, in my humble opinion, purty awesome. Almost as awesome as Pedro's, but not quite : )
Here's the pattern:
I used a size G crochet hook and worked the back loops only to get my 'stash to lay flat.
Chain 7
sl st in second chain from hook
sc in next chain
hdc in next chain
2 dc in next chain
hdc, sl st in final chain
Now you have half a mustache! Go you! You follow the exact same steps one more time:
Chain 7 more
sl st in second chain from hook
sc in next chain
hdc in next chain
2 dc in next chain
hdc, sl st in final chain
Fasten off and weave in ends and you get ... THIS:
Pedro offers you his protection : )
Caiti
