Today, Gizmo and Gadget turned 6 years old. We celebrated by making them a cake. Here are the pictures:

First, I made the cake batter, and put carob chips on top.

Then, I baked the cake. The carob chips didn’t melt nicely, so it looks a bit strange. They tasted good, though!

I decorated the cake with frosting made from cream cheese, honey, cinnamon, and a little yellow food coloring. If you look closely, you can also see green sprinkles on top, so it’s
Purple, Green, and Gold.

Here’s a picture of the cake with the candles lit! The “4” is for Oopsy, who turned four a little while ago.

I can’t believe it. They’re FIVE!
I baked a cake for them again this year. I didn’t use last year’s dog cake recipe. Instead, I modified another recipe on the internet to make a peanut butter and banana cake — they loved it! (and that peanut butter icing was really good by human standards, too!)
I took several pictures of the making & eating of the cake, and posted them in their own gallery.
I’ll do a separate post on the cake recipe itself.

Today, Lexy is six years old! Happy birthday, Lexy.
This picture is of Lexy sitting in the swing my parents got for Martine when she’s over at their house. She was pawing on it to figure out what exactly it was the other day, and my mom put her in there and took this picture.
Lexy’s still adjusting to Martine, as she doesn’t get to see her that often, and my parents don’t see Martine every day, so they pay a little bit more attention to her, of course. So, lexy’s just not used to sharing the stage, just yet. She’ll get there.

Today is Gizmo & Gadget’s 4th birthday! To celebrate, I made them a dog-friendly cake from a simple recipe I found online from LJC. However, instead of using cottage cheese for frosting, I used vanilla yogurt with peanut butter mixed in. (G & G happen to love yogurt, by the way) We thought the yogurt would be sweeter and would make a better tasting icing for them. They really enjoyed eating the cake and cannot wait until tomorrow morning when they are scheduled to get more for breakfast! After some recent health problems, we are so thankful that this birthday was a happy and healthy one for both Gizmo and Gadget. Our pugs have truly enhanced our lives for the better and their birthday is a huge reason to celebrate!
Cake Recipe: 1 cup flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 1/4 cup peanut butter, 1/4 cup oil, 1 cup shredded carrots, 1/3 cup honey, 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla.
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes in a greased pan. (Ours actually took a little bit less than 30 minutes). We iced it with about 3 parts yogurt to 1 part peanut butter
