A new chapter

Well, it truly has been a while since my last blog post; Firstly I do apologize for my distance, If you follow me on my social media, you may have got an understanding of one of the most difficult year's that I've had.
2018, was a Year that I wouldn't want to say I'd like to forget; but more of a Year that I need to rebuild myself upon. In the month of June, I sadly lost my dear Grandma. I've been highly fortunate to have had her in my life since I was born, and there have been countless of memories that I'd treasure forever. Sadly after losing my Grandad, almost 7 years ago now, I had noticed changes in her lifestyle, and her memory. Losing her was a huge shock, but I was relieved to know that she was finally reunited with my Grandad and pain-free.

In toll this has pretty much deteriorated my own mental health, which is something I hope to write about some time on my blog, and had negatively effected my motivation for my passion of writing. But as I will dearly treasure my Grandma's support for my future and my work, I don't want to give up for her; But to continue in her memory. So I've decided to come back for 2019, look into a new light, and get back to what I once enjoyed doing.
I've experienced love and loss greatly in 2018, but my enthusiasm for vintage still remained. I had some marvelous times at York and Nottingham with yearly vintage events, which I plucked up the courage to attend. But seeing my dear friends that I have made over the years, made it that little bit easier, plus I even took part in my first vintage dance class, with a massive thanks to Red and Ginger! (The loveliest Vintage Dancers I have met..)

I was also cordially invited to the launch of Alto within Nottingham, a bar which Carl Froch is part owner of; To attend press events were a struggle for me, but I knew that I had to keep going in my life and spend time around positive and supportive people. Moments like those were such an honor and, I still feel like pinching myself whenever I'm in those moments.
One of the main people that I've been ever so lucky to have, is my best friend, Sarah. Now, if you didn't know, I met Sarah through blogging, by attending a local meet-up a fair few years ago. We kept in touch, thinking we'd probably only see each other on the off chance, and I knew when I was creating my own meet-up for Charity, I wanted to definitely invite her along. Seeing her again was lovely! and it was great to get to know her and crazily enough, she didn't live that far from me at all! Over the years, we've been able to go to events together, and days out shopping; I genuinely missed having a friendship as strong as ours. Sarah and her husband were ever so good to me and my Mum when losing my Grandma and I truly don't know what I would have done without them both.

So how will I be coming back this year with blogging? Well, I am hoping to bring to you tips and tricks, tutorials, and more! and my main focus will be.. All things Vintage and how I create my looks! I can't wait to come back with a bang, and here's to a positive and proactive New year!

Be bold, Be brave, Be you.

Shavata Brow Studio Experience at Nottingham John Lewis

Within the Nottingham Intu Victoria Centre, John Lewis have completely re-vamped their beauty department, on the first floor, by welcoming new brands. One of which I was unaware of, Shavata Brows and Beauty Bar.
Now, some of you may or may not know, that I'm a qualified Beauty therapist, which was something I had a strong passion for when I had left school, many years ago! Back then it was the norm of waxing and plucking eyebrows, but it was also something which I did minimal of.
I was not one for letting someone else take charge of my brows, I would squirm and feel tears run down my cheeks whenever I did my own too. Luckily I had very fair hairs, so it was less noticeable whenever i'd leave them to be natural, from time to time. As I've gotten older, I've not been as bad when it comes to tidying them myself; With my strong interests in the 40s/50s era, I've been wanting to create a soft arch if anything. I've used a variety of brow products before, yet either the tone of the product just doesn't match up, or it clumps upon the hairs when you just don't want it to!

This is why it came to be a huge surprise for me, when I checked my Emails, to find an invitation to have my eyebrows personally done by Shavata Singh; Who is a well known brow expert to the stars and the founder of Shavata Brows! She was making a special appearance at Nottingham, to open her newest studio. I had a mix of emotions running up to my appointment, and I may have watched tons of videos to prepare myself on what was to happen. But to be perfectly honest, I was shocked at how fulfilling the experience was.

The Experience

I ensured that I arrived to my appointment, which was scheduled at 12pm, to be at least 15 minutes early. This gave me the chance to find my bearings and become better acquainted with the team, who were highly informative and presented myself with a complimentary glass of prosecco. I loved the attention to detail of the eye catching, handmade, decor used to portray the brand perfectly; So I used the time I had to take essential photos. Shavata Brows and beauty have both the brow/beauty treatments available, as well as a nail bar; I just loved the concept of everything you needed, to be within the same open space.
Before long, I was shaking hands with Shavata herself; I guess you could say I was honored, as well as overwhelmed to meet her. It was as if I knew her for so long, which I think is important to feel as comfortable as possible with your therapist. She led me over to a black leather chair that tilted back, and the consultation began. I explained how I was with my brows at home, and that I've tried to maintain them into a 'suitable' shape. Shavata studied over my eyebrows while asking me questions on what products I've used before and how long since I last plucked them. Answering truthfully, she recommended a brow pencil in the shade Blonde, and began to fill in my right brow with the product. I couldn't believe how natural it looked, as well as the best colour I've used so far to match my hair tone. I revealed my nerves about having my brows threaded, but I believed I was in safe hands with her. She directed my hands to be placed on a particular part of my forehead, to ensure I kept the skin taunt above the brow, as well as the eyelid to remain closed and pulled downwards. I'll insert the pictures so you can understand it better!

The patience, time and skill that Shavata has is remarkable; Within seconds she was prepared and began to thread with fast sweeping strokes. I barely felt any pain or discomfort, and was beyond eager to see the results! When both brows had been completed, Shavata handed me a handheld mirror to present my new reveal. I was shocked and overwhelmed. I actually felt like a new woman.
Because this was a first time for me, I guess I felt so caught up with my own ideas of how it would turn out, that the end result exceeded my expectations. My brows then were treated with an aftercare lotion to reduce any redness, and then fully completed with the blonde brow pencil to enhance as well as define the shape.

I adored having such a personal one to one appointment, and appreciated the care and advice given to me. I would highly recommend the Shavata studio experience, if you're after a unique and attentive treatment. They have flagship stores across the UK so check out the link for details. I'll be going more often to test out their other treatments and products, and will share it with you all on future social media posts.

A massive thank you to John Lewis and the team for having me; as well as to Shavata herself for taking the time to make me feel beautiful.

Jingle Mingle hosted by Prezzy box and talkbeckytalk

Christmas Cheer,
Gift Ideas,
Networking In Nottingham

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas; I still can't believe we're half way through December, this year has just flown by! During the end of October, I was invited a long with a lot of other Nottinghamshire Bloggers, to an event like no other I've ever been to. The event was named the Jingle Mingle and it was hosted by PrezzyBox, which are an online gift retailer, and the talented, TalkBeckyTalk, Who's a successful local Youtuber and Blogger.
The Location for the evening was Baresca, Nottingham; Which is a beautiful Tapas bar. An itinerary of the evening was sent through to us, with fun-packed workshops and a Q & A Panel with Becky, we were in for a true Christmas inspired evening.

I haven't been to Baresca before, yet I had a good idea of where it was! So myself and Sarah made our way to the venue in good time, and began to meet other bloggers in the bar area, before being shown to the private room downstairs. The room was decorated with pink and purple balloons, reflecting the PrezzyBox's company perfectly. Each table had been set up with some of their gift ideas, which gave a fuller insight on what you can expect from their online store.  There was so much to see and do, including a Perfume making workshop, as well as a handmade bow creating station! As you can expect, both were very busy during the evening, but I was fortunate to have been able to create my own perfume, which you can read more about shortly!

We all began to sign in with the darling Marketing ladies from Prezzybox, being then handed a personalized badge with our names, as well as our blogs, on them and began to mingle! The bar was dressed with round trays of Prosecco, which we were kindly treated to with a drinks token; The evening had been a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, which I find perfect especially it it were someone's first event that they've attended. With drinks in tow, we posed for some photos which were taken at the pop up booth, with quirky props of course! And we then walked around the room to view each of the tables and the products, some of them really stood out to me and brought out my inner 90s nostalgia child.. Polly Pocket handbag? Yes please!
The perfume making workshop and the gift decor DIY station were both in full flow, and the vibe from the other Bloggers and Youtubers, were bursting from the seams.

I briefly got the chance to speak to Becky and her sister, and I adored how down to earth and friendly they were. Becky was passionate about the event and how she felt the evening would go, but it met all of her expectations and more. Both myself and Sarah, waited patiently to be the next lucky ladies to create their bespoke perfume, in partnership with The Perfume Studio London. Below were just a few of their gift sets, which you could use to create your own signature scent. It's a perfect way to treat someone for Christmas for a long lasting experience.

Below, you can see the arrangement for the perfume making workshop, these glass jars were each filled with 'notes' which we used to build up our desired scent. It was like an orchestra, base notes, middle notes, up to top notes; with different blends the best way was to smell each one at a time, starting off with a base then choosing it to add to our fragrance. With my creation I chose two blends to design my perfume which I named, Von Teese, After one of my idols, Dita of course!

I admired how interesting the creation of a perfume was, as told to us by Ben; I could have listened and learned for hours. This is a luxurious and bonding way to share with friends, which is why their hen parties and social events are of high demand. We were each then given our created fragrance in a small glass bottle to take home with us; If I were to run out, my perfume is saved on their data base online, so I'd be able to order it to home! Such a marvelous idea, especially for a gift.

Around 7pm, we started to take a seat and gather around for the Panel discussion to commence. This personally was an uplifting, insightful and inspirational segment; I loved how the questions were directed to both Becky and social & Marketing Executive of PrezzyBoxFran; An influence's point of view as well as a brand's.
It's made me look at my own blog in a deeper way, I've always had so many dreams and plans, and after the talk, I want to actually put them into action; Definitely now we're approaching a new year. I took notes which I'm sure I'll be using as guidance; Maybe a return to YouTube.. We shall see!

The end of the night, we were each presented with a bright pink goody bag which had each been chosen on our interests! I was given a queen shower cap, musical note sock hangers set and some drinking fudge, Salted caramel.. Yum.. These winter nights would be perfect for it.
I'd have to say a massive thank you to PrezzyBox and to Becky for hosting the evening as well as inviting me, it was an absolute pleasure.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, and here's to bright things in the New Year.

BlueBird Tea Co. // Nottingham Opening event

I've been a fan of tea for as long as I can remember; a breakfast tea has been my go to most of the time, but I have been slightly adventurous with fruit teas over the years. I recall trying the Whittards fruit tea samples in their outlets and the flavorsome the better I thought; Sadly that was many years ago and I've been willing to try out something new for some time, So when I had an email in regards to the opening of BlueBird Tea Co I couldn't wait to see what they had in store; and hopefully convert me!

We were warmly welcomed in to the store, along with many other bloggers, local businesses and family alike; With some details on what to expect for the evening, it seemed like a fun packed opening and it was highly convenient to be in the heart of Nottingham. The scent as soon as you walked through the door to the store, just blew the senses, with so much to see and smell. The walls had perfectly lined tea tins, labeled and colour co-ordinated; precision was key to the merchandising, but I was shocked at how much interesting choices they had!

Just up a couple of stairs to the far side of the store, there was a long table lined up with three different cocktails for us to try; I was immediately drawn to the deep pink and blue mix, also know as their Unicorn Fizz, which with a stir, turned to a pretty purple as you can see captured above! It was overly magical and scrumptious, the blue raspberry tea was blended beautifully and was a pleasure to enjoy over ice. With drinks in hand, we continued to explore the first floor, the Christmas gifts looked incredible, with perfect ideas for tea lovers. Speaking of Christmas, they have special blends which they create for the season, below you can see just one of the blends and how it is presented before you brew it; These were fantastic photography opportunities as every blend had their own eye-catching appearance.

We made our way downstairs to the area which was specifically set up for the 'blend your own tea' station and also screen printing; I decided to create my own blend which was so much fun, smelling every ingredient and choosing the ones I liked the most. I used rooibos base, chocolate nibs and rose petals; I'm highly curious on how this will taste as I'm still yet to brew it! But the scent smelt scrumptious, so I'm hopeful!

I had to capture this amazing concept, The Tea advent calendar! Although there is such a variety of calendars introduced over the years from beauty to spirits, this would be an ideal way to the run up of Christmas with a different blend of tea each day. It values for £36 which is fantastic value for 24 days! It includes some of the people's favourites from BlueBird Tea, as well as exclusive blends just for the calendar, such as Mrs Claus's raspberry prosecco, which sounds totally up my street!

Towards the end of the evening, we made our way back upstairs to the main floor; Where we had the opportunity, to smell the blends from the tins, off of the shelved wall. I have never smelt anything so true to the real thing.. Cherry bakewell, bonfire toffee, birthday cake.. It was so interesting to think how a tea could smell as well as taste so good. They really smelt good enough to eat! I would have never thought it was possible and I'm overjoyed to now know such a creative place in Nottingham.

It was fantastic to meet Krisi who's the BlueBirdTeaCo. Founder and creative director; she's extremely passionate about the concept and the products and couldn't have made us feel any more welcome and special that evening. After a long goodbye, Krisi let myself a long with my fellow blogging buddies set off home with a drink of our choice, I had to opt for the Strawberry Lemonade, as from what I had researched it's one of their best selling teas and liked by many bloggers and media! Fantastically strawberry infused with a kick of lemon, it went down a real treat.
A massive thanks to the Nottingham team for inviting me, I can't wait to pop in again during the festive season for gift ideas.

If you've checked out the BlueBirdTeaCo. website, which tea would you love to try?
Or if you could create any flavour of tea, what would it be?
Let me know in the comments section below!

Thai Cooking Masterclass at Thaikhun Nottingham

Fresh Ingredients,
Bursting with flavour,
IntuNottsBloggers Thai Masterclass.

Hello Lovelies;
I wouldn't say I'm the most adventurous when it comes to food, but Thai has to be one of my favourites when it comes down to preparation and flavour.
I've been to Thaikhun, in the Intu Nottingham centre a few times, and indulged in their vibrant atmosphere, which feels as if you're stepping into that part of the world; And their food has been fantastic every time, with lunchtime offers and treats for the kids, it's really a place for everyone.
I was kindly invited, with a handful of Nottingham Bloggers, to attend a masterclass at the restaurant. Not exactly knowing what to expect, I will admit I was a little hesitant, but built the confidence to give it a go!
We were welcomed by the staff, who were bright and bubbly, One of them which was Drew, whom hosted our evening; And offered us a fruity cocktail which I believe was named the 'Full Moon'. It was ideally the perfect setting, as we were drinking cocktails on the outdoor terrace, the sunshine lightly beating down upon us.
With our drinks in tow, we were shown to where all the masterclasses happen; Yes I was pretty much petrified as I regained flashbacks of cookery lessons at school! But, thankfully due to such patient and understanding people around me, I actually realized I can do this, although I don't exactly cook when I'm at home! We had our own little work stations, as well as chef hats and aprons. After being kitted up, we were introduced to one of the Chef's Named M, who was guiding us through the wonderful world of Thai Cuisine.
The first dish we were making, were fresh prawn rolls, using rice paper, prawns, cucumber, carrot and lettuce. I love prawns, so this was an exciting starter for me to re-create. We cut the ingredients into fine slices while the rice paper was placed into a bowl of water to turn into a slimy/workable texture. We followed the chef step by step, sadly my rolls weren't photography worthy, but did taste scrumptious!
Now we were onto the main course! We were taught to make, Thai red curry. Our workstations were once again set up with the fresh ingredients, and the best thing about this dish, was that we could alter it to our own preference of spice. The maximum heat I ever go for is a korma! So we found out the only way you increase the spice is by adding red chilies to the curry. It was fun to test out the flavour along the way, I actually couldn't believe I made something that tasted ever so good! It was a sweet yet subtle savory sauce and complimented the chicken well whilst it marinated.

And viola! This was definitely picture worthy I think; we plated up our creations and were then led back up to the restaurant area. We were kindly given a bowl of sticky rice to accompany our red curries; I could have eaten this meal over and over again, I was so proud of myself.  I felt that was the best part about the experience, that it doesn't matter how much or less skilled you are in the kitchen; Their masterclass caters for all. Nottingham's Thaikhun provides a cooking school every 2nd Sunday of the month, from 11-1pm where you can also learn to cook a starter and a main. You can find out all the different Thaikhun locations and classes they have to offer here.

They also have an amazing opportunity up for grabs, where you and a friend can win a trip to Thailand! The competition is called #BestSummerEver and just by filling out your details of interest you can get a free Pad Thai! With other scrumptious prizes up for grabs it's something not to be missed.

I'd love to say a big thank you to the Intu Nottingham team for arranging the event and for Thaikhun for the fantastic experience, one which I'll never forget!

#Paperhaul - Crafty Creatives Subscription boxes Review*

Hello Lovelies!
So, one of my passions in life, is arts and crafts; and when I spotted #Paperhaul also known as Crafty Creatives, reaching out to bloggers about their subscription service, I couldn't resist!
I have heard, as well as come across, many subscription boxes, from food to beauty, but to hear about a monthly subscription to beautiful themed stationary, is something quite new to me.

I received the package swiftly, in a firm envelope. The contents were held together by duo toned string, and it was clear to tell what the theme was for July! Mermaid Magic, which is something I'm loving at the moment too. With a welcome card on top, I would give a huge thumbs up for the presentation, which personally is key with subscription boxes.
The set contained a handy lined notebook, two postcards, a large card and envelope and three small cards with envelopes. Precious golden waves and seashells marked the selection, with mystical mermaids and seahorses galore.

The stationary itself is stunning; I love the prints used as well as the colours, and they compliment each other so well. The quirky slogans give it more of a unique touch, and are perfect for a greeting card or a special note for someone.
The quality was beyond my expectations, from the card's texture to the actual print. For £10 a month + £2 for your P+P within the UK, it is simply worth it.

Overall I think this is something I'd be interested in signing up to, from viewing the past boxes the themes just keep getting better and better, and I love how they work closely with artists; To showcase their work I find that in itself a powerful impact. I'd love to see more of the vintage style too of course, but I like the fact that each month it's a guaranteed surprise.
When signing up to your first #PaperHaul box, feel free to use the code 25OFF for 25% off!

Do let me know what your favourite type of subscription box is in the comments, I'd love to know!

Check out #PaperHaul over at - https://www.craftycreatives.com/paperhaul/

Blogger masterclass at Cabella Nottingham

Glamorous Glitters,
Make-up Goals,
Tips & Tricks!

Hello Lovelies!

Now you may have recalled a previous visit I had at the beautiful Make-up boutique within Nottingham; CaBella is in the heart of the city center, just a stroll up Bridlesmith walk, and it's a perfect place to go to if you're looking for make-up tips and tricks, needing your make-up to be applied for a special occasion, or just a treat for you and the girls!
When my friend, Sarah, notified me about the CaBella ladies putting together a blogger's evening, I was more than excited to inquire about attending. As a lot of you may know, my biggest passion is make-up, and growing up I always wanted to become a make-up artist. Over the years my obsession with palettes, lipsticks and much more has grown and I'm keen on learning something new, so I'd love to share my experience with you all at this informative event.

Upon my arrival, I was greeted by the talented team that are Dannica, Jordan and Charlie; three individuals which all live and breathe glamour and passion for their job. With complimentary prosecco, I made my way to the rest of the excited bloggers and took a seat; each seat was laid with detailed information about each presented look for that evening as well as generous goody-bags from CaBella and Kieh'ls, which I'll include more about them further on!
The first look on one half of the face, was done by Dannica on Charlie. This was their signature smokey look, which had more of a wow impact and was ideal for long lasting wear, preferably for an evening out or for a special occasion/event. Dannica walked us through every step of the way, indicating that it's ideal to apply your eye shadow before your foundation incase of any fall out, and to start off with little application, to further build up the pigment and effect.  The glitter pigment that she used was one of my key favourites, this was in the shade, Champagne kisses by Glitter Eyes. It was amazing that every product used was fully pigmented, a little went such a long way and you can see how it was well worth the money, on lasting and value.
This was the completed look on Charlie; with an insight of how to contour best for your face shape, the famous selfie light picked up the best highlight and sparkle! I would love one of these beauties for my further selfies that's for sure!
For the next part of the masterclass, Jordan then demonstrated a lighter application on the other side of Charlie's face. This was a look which showcased their own brand new line of pigments and eye shadow palettes. The main pigments used for this look were Sphinx and their luxurious gold in Vegas for that added pop in the eye's corner. We were then given the chance to see every new pigment swatched onto Charlie's arm and there were plenty of 'oohs' and 'ahhs' as our to-buy lists were slowly growing!

This was both of the overall looks created by Dannica and Jordan, I just adore how both were so different but yet with their added CaBella flair. I had to also grab a shot of the pigmented arm Charlie was sporting for us! It was great that they were so patient in letting us take photos and ask questions where needs be. I found it an informative and fun evening, with serious girly envy of their decorated location. I'm sure I'll go by again and pick up a few make-up essentials, and apply their techniques to my own look in the future.
Below is an overview of the kind goody bags given to us on the night; With information on other independent businesses, which CaBella also support. There were two samples provided by Kiehl's, which were an eye balm and the ultra facial oil free cleanser. As you know, I'm loving trying out the Kiehl's range so these will come in handy!

In the CaBella goody bag, there were great discounts and offers from local businesses, a scrumptious white chocolate truffle from Studio Chocolate, some samples from Bareminerals, although the foundation shade is very dark for my skin, it was interesting to see the consistency and something I could trial out in my matched skin tone. And kindly given to us was a random selected pigment from CaBella! I was shocked to find the shade Twilight in my bag, this is a purple shade with silver reflects, and would compliment my green eyes if I went for a bold look!

This is the shade Twilight in just two strokes! I will have to post an overall make-up look on my Instagram feed using this pigment, so do keep an eye out for that!
A massive thank you to the ladies at CaBella, for hosting such a great evening for us all!
Find out more about their masterclasses and prices especially if you're local, here.
