Stitch has made a huge difference in my life

Stitch has made a huge difference in my life! This is a great way to make new friends in your own area and have distance friends as well! Play games, online zooms or meet up! I feel the process they have for verifying is essential as it weeds out scammers better. Come join in on the fun, it leads to less loneliness and isolation!

Meeting People in Group outings for fun

The value of outings from lunches, dinners, bowling, even dancing, to markets and much much more, and much easier to go out with a group than have to deal with a one on one person from a dating site. Theres no agendas with most people, just all out fun and company, am glad i joined and have made new friends.

When I first joined there was little activity in Perth but now there are regular events. I've enjoyed all events I've attended and found Stitch members to be friendly and welcoming. I'm happy to recommend Stitch to anyone wanting to be more socially active.

Hi Veronica, I'm sorry to hear you had trouble with your friend. I'm not quite sure what you mean, but it sounds as if it was an issue with that particular friend, and not a review of Stitch in general, is that correct? Regards, Andrew from Stitch

Stitch is a safe community of over 50’s…

Stitch is a safe community of over 50’s people where you are able to meet and greet others on activities in your age group. There is a genuine respectful culture of inclusion and activities are monitored and feedback encouraged re each others’ company. Each person’s safety is foremost in this culture. It’s designed to connect individuals with a fun quality lifestyle that supports social inclusion.

Easy to suggest an activity or event you wish to go to but find your current network are disinterested in or perhaps lack the good health or finances to participate. Easy to lead such an event and share the joy of such with others. No obligation but much encouragement.

With Stitch you have opportunity to connect with others who want to experience the same activity when life connections can be limited for various reasons.

Everyone is rewarded with positive encouragement when suggesting or leading an event. A points system honours our contribution and codes our community involvement to build trust within the community.

You are surprised and encouraged when you find others signal they too would like to attend your interest.

There are online virtual activities as well as real time ones. Sometimes health issues or mobility can be a barrier to our social inclusion.

Overall a great way to meet social needs with flexibility of access to each one’s availability. Opportunity awaits.

Try it. Limited trial membership to some activities to allow newcomers to suss it out without committing.

Ultimately, like any community - it thrives as much as individuals participate. Stitch values people and supports them to flourish and grow in connections.

What a wonderful summary of the community Robyn, thank you! And thanks for being an amazing member of the community yourself. As you say, the community is only anything because of the enthusiasm and involvement of its members, so we wouldn't be what we are without members like you! Regards, Andrew from Stitch

Stitch is a really great community

Stitch is a really great community! I am in the USA, Northern California. I have had the opportunity to get out a meet people my own age for social events. Everyone has been very respectful of each other. There are so many events to choose from. I personally have gone out to lunch, dinner, concerts, museums, hiking on an Island in the San Francisco Bay, movies and a picnic! There is even some discussion of going to a haunted island for Halloween lol!
I have met some really great people through Stitch, and I am very grateful for their friendship.

I think that it’s tooo costly to be with stitch if you’re on a pension, I really like how there are good leaders, who can organise really good functions. Please lower the membership it’s not easy when you’re renting & being on a pension. Diane Johnstone

Hi Diane, sorry to hear you find it expensive. The Basic membership is $84 per year and many of our members tell us that they are surprised it is so cheap, compared to anything comparable, particularly online dating sites that often cost many hundreds of dollars per year. We try very hard to keep the membership fee as affordable as possible. We also have an assistance program for members who face financial difficulties, please contact us if you would like some information about the program. Regards, Andrew from Stitch

So friendly. Feel at home when a I am not at home. I live by myself and have anxiety. However, when I have interacted with stitch organisers I feel calm and accepted.

I found Stitch over 8 years ago

I found Stitch over 8 years ago, a year after my husband passed away. At first it was one on one meetings with some ladies. And then people started putting on events with 8-12 people at mostly Restaurants. I have made some wonderful friends in all these years. I am grateful for Stitch and all the people that make the effort to put on an event 🙏.

I understand your policy on people missing events, I have spoken to other people about how they feel if they get a message after missing something. Nobody So. far seems to enjoy it. It’s all done very politely, I’ve heard comments of it feeling like You’re being reported to

Hi Julie, it sounds as if you might be misunderstanding the no-show notification on Stitch. As we mention in our video that goes with the notification, it's not a big deal at all to miss an event from time to time, that happens to everyone! And the Stitch system is very permissive to allow this to happen. It's really just a courtesy reminder to try to let the host know if you're not going to attend, as we had a lot of feedback from organisers that persistent no-shows (i.e. people who consistently don't turn up) can make their lives as an organiser very difficult. The notification you receive is just there to help raise awareness for people who didn't realise. Even if you miss 3 in a row for a valid reason, you just need to let Stitch know and the team can reset things for you. Ever since we added the notification, it reduced no-shows at events and made our organisers much happier, so overall we think it's still good to do, for the overall wellbeing of the community. But please remember it's not a big deal and the system is set up to be very understanding about people missing the occasional activity. Hopefully this one aspect of Stitch isn't so bad that you think the community as a whole deserves only two stars, as there is so much good in the community, and this is just something we try to do to help organisers from feeling down if they get a lot of no-shows at their events. Please contact Stitch Support if you've got further questions about how the system works. Regards, Andrew from Stitch

Great to be part of a worldwide community that local too. With much diversity for people’s different interests with many different events & activities to join together. So building range of connections & community linkages & too so reducing loneness which is a significant issue for aging in our communities.

I have met some great people. Very friendly, no pressure just real people to spend a Saturday night or other out with instead of sitting alone at home. We have tried some interesting places that I wouldn't have gone to alone and I feel like part of the gang with several of the regulars now.
