RESTAURANTS CIRCA 1922

8 N. Front St. 910/762-1922, www.circa1922.com HOURS: Sun.-Thurs. 5-10 P.M. Fri.-Sat. 5-11 P.M.

Circa 1922 specializes in small bites that are big on taste. Located in a historic building in the heart of downtown, the restaurant boasts exposed brick walls, high ceilings, and gleaming wood floors that are as picture perfect as the entrees. The tapas menu includes chicken and beef sates, imported cheeses, marinated artichokes, cured salmon, and other small plates. The dishes on the entree menu ($9-17) are on the small side (servers recommend that two diners share three dishes) but the shrimp and grits, paella, Asian short ribs, and chicken orecchiette are so flavorful that a few bites of each can be quite filling. When it comes to desserts, there is no such thing as a small plate. The crepes Gran Marnier, bananas Foster, and hot chocolate bar cake are served in massive portions (though some desserts are available in miniature versions).

History for Belarus Map
The church is notable for its unusual length (120 feet Belarus Map by 20 feet), and the massive tower at its western end, which was once, it Belarus Map is believed, a store for smuggled goods. The churchyard contains the graves of soldiers and airmen of several nationalities who lost their lives during the Second World War. It ceased to be used as a parish church in 1981, and is now a chapel of ease used by the Army. One curiosity about the church is that it was known as the church of the parish of West Thorney, whereas in fact it lies on the east side of the peninsula. You now have an easy walk along a clear waterside path that takes you back out of the restricted area, with a red button that you must press to unlock the gate and ensure your release. You go over the Great Deep, which, as stated earlier, is not as formidable as it sounds, and on to Thornham Point, once effectively on the tip of the much less extensive peninsula.
