Are you as excited as I am to get started sewing on the Fireburst Mystery Quilt??? To those that have joined the Facebook Group and joined in the linky party it has been so much fun following along and seeing the fabrics you have picked out! You guys are going to have some beautiful quilts and I can't wait to see them come together. Today we are going to start the first piecing instructions with half square triangles (HST's) and half flying geese (HFG) units. The best part, you don't have to make a ton of them!
We will be using the 2 at a time method using B and D squares to make HST's.

With this method, you will use two B or two D squares, drawing a diagonal line on the back of one square. Then placing them right sides together, you will stitch 1/4" seam on either side of the diagonal line.
Next cut on the diagonal line to form two HST's. Press the seams open or toward the darker side and trim to the correct size.
Using the chart below and the appropriate B and D squares make the following HST's.

Next we will be making Half Flying Geese units using C rectangles and A squares. On the wrong side of the A squares draw a diagonal line.
Combine the C rectangle with the A square (as shown below ), right
sides together, and stitch on the drawn line. Note that the A square goes on the right side of the rectangle.
