Sexy Witches

A few years late to the Coven but this was hilarious! Of course, I love all things witchy but this transcends the genre. Halloween week is upon us!

Missed Connections: Adult Entertainment Edition

Because flip flops are always the wisest footwear selection when it's 11 degrees out. And that's about all that stood out to me as suspect.

Elf Yourself!

Every year, it doesn't feel quite like the holidays until I create one of these little Elf videos for my family and friends. It's so simple and easy to do but manages to wow people who haven't seen it before. It always puts a smile on my face and laughter in my heart; sentences like that confirm that I am officially in the Christmas spirit!

The embedded code wasn't working but here's a couple of direct links:

Missed Connections: Why Wasn't I Invited?! Edition

A '70s Porn Party. It apparently went down in Mount Washington. What are you going to tell me next? Champagne was on tap and every guy there had facial hair? My e-vite must have been lost in one of Gmail's unnecessary new folders. I have to make a wider circle of friends. Ones who throw together parties like this. I've been looking for an excuse to dress up (or down?) as Amber Waves from Boogie Nights for years.

Missed Connections: Sending Signals Edition

does anyone out there also appreciate the beauty of the turn signal?
such a quiet call for gentle attention. with a heartbeat rhythm. personally, my favorite view is from the rear (the luminous red ones, so like lips), though from inside, those green arrows illuminating the dash, with their aching hollow plunk, punctuating that patient longing cowboy tune, 200 miles into a 300-mile post-meridian delivery- now that's an compelling second.
& and in summer, a hand turn signal, for a right turn? I'd stop the world & melt for you.

          just saying.

When people neglect to use their turning signal, it bothers me. A pet peeve since I first learned to drive and probably well before then, it's always irritated me. So when I came across this missed connections post, I was thrown off. I never considered the possibility that someone could be turned on by turning signals. Probably because most people aren't. This is actually really creepy and kind of funny. It's been awhile since I came across a post that was worthy of a share but I think this one is a keeper. If you ever drive in Pittsburgh, remember the signal you're sending might be taken in a different direction. I know I'll never look at that little blinking light the same way again.

Quoteworthy: Joan Rivers

"I succeeded by saying what everyone else is thinking."

Happy 80th birthday to one of the funniest souls this world has seen. Have a sense of humor? Joan is an inspiration to women everywhere. Never quite understood her? Check out her documentary or read her books.

All Hail To The Drinkin' Man!

"Speed is often the enemy of true pleasure."

I can understand how the phrase 'mad men' came into use. Every time I see one of the Dewar's commercials, I want to throw something in a fit of rage. I have to know the name of the song in their commercials! The music that plays in the ads seems to have been created specifically for their campaign. I wish the people at Dewar's would tell the public the name of the piece of music. If it's only a minute or so long, they need to cash in and extend that. It's too good to remain obscure. For the love of Angus, release it!

Sidenote: For the past year, I thought the voice in the commercial was saying, "All hail to the great tin man." Personally, he always freaked me out. The Scarecrow would have been my only choice for random stranger to go walking into the woods with. He didn't have an ax. This reminds me of something I once saw online:

The Barbie Happy Family Show

Genius! I admittedly miss playing with my Barbies (and maybe offered to babysit my little cousin so I could). I loved them so much. I would set them up and do real photo shoots with my Mom's camera. If the internet was around back then, I guarantee I would have posted something like this on YouTube. My sister and I always joke about how we made our Barbies' lives scandalous. They were always messing around with the New Kids on the Block dolls or out partying with the 90210 guys. You get the idea.

Super Bowl XLVII: Like Bambi's Mum Cheering For the Gun

As a diehard Steeler fan, this Super Bowl is basically a lose/lose situation. Either our arch rivals, the dirty birds  Baltimore Ravens win or the San Francisco 49ers take the championship and tie our record for the most Super Bowl wins. I thought I'd never see the day when I'd cheer for the Ravens to win anything much less the Super Bowl. Pittsburgh Dad puts it perfectly. Steeler Nation cheering for the Ravens is like Bambi's mum cheering for the gun...

Someone Can't Wait Until Christmas...

My 3-year-old shih-tzu, Ireland, is totally and completely spoiled. My Mom stuck a few dog treats inside her Christmas stocking when she wasn't even in the room but Ireland knows they're in there. She wouldn't stop barking for the goodies, so I caved and let her have some early. If this is any indication of what I might be like as a parent with actual children, it looks like I'll be a softy.

MoonWOKing

Since it's my favorite time of the year, I thought I'd share one of the best videos ever... the drunk Ewoks from the Today Show Halloween spectacular. This one always gets me. Nothing is lamer than those stupid morning show segments when an expert type goes on an on about how to make your holiday unique and memorable. The host feigns interest while the audience is only concerned with getting their homemade sign on national televsion. The Ewoks knew that they weren't going to sit by and let this segment be another boring one. They kept it real with their 8 am martinis and moonwalking. They made it work. So cute! So funny!
