One Fine Night at Serendra

Special people on their special day should be treated with only the best. And the best steak in Manila can only be found at Mamou's Restaurant.

We were handed the menu as soon as we were seated in one corner of the restaurant. I'm glad I trusted my guts and reserved for a table earlier that day because the place was packed. As with most restaurants abroad, Mamou accepts only two shifts during dinner time -- first shift is from 6pm to 820pm, giving them ample time to prepare for the next shift which starts at 830pm until closing. Walk-in customers are seated outside, that is if you are lucky to secure a table.

Complimentary bread were placed on our table right away.

What we ordered

Healdsburg's Harvest Salad -- I love the cranberry dressing!

Introducing the best steak in Manila and the most delicious one I have ever tried!

Angus Ribeye USDA Prime Grade Steak (approx. 800 grams) --  Medium rare just the way we love our steak.

It also comes with two side dishes.

Red Steak Rice

Creamed Spinach

A proper plating is in order. I must say that dining in Mamou is an experience in itself.

Oooh la la! I am in steak haven! Very juicy and so flavorful.

It was a wonderful experience until we had to leave because the second shift starts in 10 minutes. So what better way to end the perfect night? Nothing but the most sinful yet delicious cupcakes available in town -- Sonja's Cupcakes!

Red Velvet Vixen

Pistachio Berries N' Cream

Spoiled girl. Guilty as charged!

Xin Wang Hongkong Cafe

A newly opened restaurant in the Mall of Asia which I was so excited about ever since I saw the words "Hongkong Cafe" in it. You see, it's been my advocacy of mine to find the best restaurant in Manila which will make me feel like I'm in Hongkong. Yes, I am in love with Hongkong -- the place and the food of course!

What we ordered

Black Pepper Chicken Spaghetti

Nothing really special. The spaghetti needs more sauce and spices.

HK Steamed Mushroom Chicken Bamboo Rice --  Pass the salt please!
Could have been better if the chicken was not overcooked.

Dry Chili Noodle with Luncheon Meat and Egg -- I have no idea why we ordered this.
Curiosity? Maybe. Those cook-it-yourself pancit canton is so much better than this one.

Japanese Rice Mochi with Crushed Peanuts and White Sesame --
The only thing I enjoyed from all our orders but a bit overpriced at Php85.

To be honest, I was quite disappointed with Xin Wang. It's either there's something missing and it taste so bland or it wasn't delicious as I was expecting it to be. But hey, I am not giving up. There's still a lot to try. Hopefully next time we drop by, all the dishes will be available, and who knows, we might hit the jackpot then (jackpot = great food, great taste, value for money).

Korean Restaurant Sol -- Second Time Around

I was not feeling well that day (bad case of stomach ache) so I wasn't really in the mood to eat which is very rare. Anyway, I was planning on skipping dinner but DB insisted we go eat something first before heading home.

Parade of appetizers which were all good.

We also ordered spare ribs and fat beef as our main dish.

We let the waiter grill the beef in the nearby table so we won't smell like barbeque.

I passed on rice this time. I had beef enveloped in lettuce with fresh garlic and fermented bean paste just like the way Koreans do it. Yum!

It also came with Miso soup. It was between Kimchi soup or Miso soup, we chose the latter hoping it wouldn't be so spicy.

The soup smells spicy. By the looks of it, it must be so we passed.
