Project #FeminineInjection with Bijou and Boheme

Hi there friends...it's Christine here from Bijou and Boheme and I'm so totally delighted to be here guesting for Sam as she enjoys the beginnings of wedded bliss. I've long been a fan and avid reader of TPOTC so very happy to be visiting. For my two minutes of Tres Chic fame, I thought I'd introduce a new project I'm working on that I'm calling #projectfeminineinjection. Those of you who know are likely very aware of my affinity for girliness with a little bit of edge so this project seemed a fitting one to share. To start, I'll show you the 'before's of the space but preface that by letting you know that these so called befores look like what you'd expect from pretty fantastic after reveal party...behold the already fabulous...

My client originally contacted me because she felt that her space wasn't quite finished and lacked cohesion. She also wanted to inject a good dose of femininity into the space and add some edge. So with this sort of description/mandate in hand and some pretty great inspiration goodness....

Project Flirty Feminine

Hi friends!  How is your week going?  Surviving, are we?  I could do without the weather.  It's been overcast for days and I need some sunshine!  I've had to get my Vitamin D through punchy colors and prints these days.  Which brings me to...

Project flirty feminine, as I'm calling it!

My good friend just purchased a condo and has asked me for a little guidance with her living room.  As if nothing could make me happier?!  Being a girly girl, I felt it was only appropriate to bring in lots of pinks, purples, glam details, and furs in to her decor.  Here's my first board of ideas:

Shop this board:

Large Sea Fan $38/Jonathan Adler Mongolian Lamb Bench $1,450/Bengal Bazaar Throw Pillow $89/Claybourne Sofa $3,060/Circa Lighting Oslo Sconce $420/Magenta Velvet Throw Pillow $75/Zebra Hide Rug $650/Sivya Light Gray Table Lamp (Set of 2) $259

Sara Kate Studios is one of my "go-to" websites for fun, unique accessories, so when I saw this large pink sea fan on her website, I thought it was such a fun detail!  The fur bench adds serious glam factor, as well as the tufted sofa.  I envision putting 2 of the fur benches beneath a console.  And of course every bachelorette pad needs a zebra hide rug!
What do you think?

The "Girl" Cave

I often hear men proclaim that they would love to have a man cave.  The one place that they could call their own- leather sofas, big screen TVs, football helmets lining the shelf, and Bruce Springsteen on the ipod player.  They would be "safe" from any feminine details.  Personally, I'd love to have my own "girl" cave!  A place safe from any men, where couches were chosen simply on their aesthetic rather than comfort, coffee table books spilling out of every shelf, lots of lacquer, lucite, mirrored furniture, and of course- pink!  There would always be Sofia champagne available in those cute pink cans, Grey Goose, and many other tasty expensive liquors. Here's what I am envisioning:

Now, won't you come join me for a cocktail in my "girl" cave??

Monday Morning Inspiration: 50s Girly Glamour

In case you missed it, February's issue of Elle printed a 50s-inspired editorial full of classic girly glamour.

The seductive silhouettes pay homage to sultry classic beauty a-la Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor.  To say this editorial filled me with delight would be a massive understatement.

A 50s-inspired aesthetic seems to be among many collections this spring. Designers are expanding the aesthetic from the simple, clean lines of cinched-in boxy jackets with below- the- knee full skirts first introduced by Christian Dior in the early 1950s. (See this post for more on Dior).   Using this spread as inspiration, I collected my favorite feminine spaces full of soft pinks, florals, and June Cleaver-esque interiors for your viewing enjoyment.
