Taylor Swift Reputation Tour

About 9 months ago we learned that Taylor Swift would be coming to Atlanta as part of our Reputation Tour and we knew we had to go!  There was a pre-sale process where fans could gain early access for doing things like watching her videos, buying merchandise, sharing via social media and a ton of other things.  I spent what felt like weeks doing everything we could to get us early access and when the day finally came to purchase tickets my hands were literally shaking.  I was on the phone with Jen the entire time and as soon as I had confirmation of the tickets I was SO excited and relieved. I gave the tickets and shirts to my girls as Christmas gifts and they were beyond thrilled!

Their first concert was the Taylor Swift concert a few years ago and we had so much fun so they couldn't wait to go back.  Because the concert wasn't until August it felt like forever to wait, but it was the perfect thing to look forward to right after school starting.

Jen booked us a room at the Omni Hotel downtown so we could walk over to the stadium before and after the show and not have to deal with all of the traffic since we knew it would be a late night.

Our room had an amazing view of Mercedes-Benz stadium and it was fun to watch all the people walking around downtown all dressed up.

We all got ready while sipping on Champagne for the over 21 crowd and sparkling juice for the younger ones.  Nothing like a little multi-tasking.

Part of getting ready included our RED lips!!!  Because it was a special occasion we went all out!

I had an extra ticket so my mom was able to come with us for the night!

We walked over to the stadium and the excitement all around us was contagious.

After getting into the stadium and grabbing tour t-shirts, Little Cute needed to reapply!  She was all about the red lips and so pumped for her first concert!

We entertained ourselves by taking pictures while we waited for the show to start.

The opening acts were Charlie XCX and Camilla Cabello. Both were so fun and got the crowd up, dancing and excited.

When Taylor came on stage the place went wild! People screaming, singing, dancing, and having so much fun.

One thing we all loved were the light-up bracelets.  They are synchronized to the music and light up all different colors at all different times. It makes the stadium look so cool!

We sang and danced our little hearts out all night long. Taylor sang a ton of her new songs from the Reputation album, but also mixed in some of her older songs, too.

The lights, the dancing, the costumes, the production...all of it was AMAZING!  She is such a performer and put on such a great show.

She also moves around a bunch. We had thought about getting seats on the floor, but decided against it because we weren't sure the girls would be able to see as well. We ended up in the lower level which was great. We had a good view of the main stage and also we were right in front of one of the side stages that she performs a few songs on. Plus, with the huge screens that are all around the top of the stadium you could see everything perfectly no matter where you were sitting.

Thank you Taylor Swift for such a fun night. We had a blast and can't wait for you to come back to Atlanta!!!!

Girls Night at Lady Gaga

We've always been big Lady Gaga fans!  I (Carrie Beth) has seen her perform live twice at the Super Bowls she has performed at...once for the National Anthem and once for the half-time show and both have not disappointed.

She's such a talented artist and an amazing performer! So, just after the Super Bowl last year when she killed it during half-time, tickets for her tour went on sale and we decided that it would be such a fun girls night to see her concert when she came to Atlanta.  I (Jen) coordinated and bought tickets for us and a few friends and then we kind of put it on the back burner.  Fast forward 9 months and the date was finally here!  On Tuesday we met up for what would be super fun girls night out.

We rode together down town and had a less than impressive dinner.  We ate at a really nice restaurant close to the venue and it kept going from bad to worse.  Bad service, took forever to get our food, and little to no compassion for the fact that we were trying to get to an event and had been there with reservations with more than enough time to spare.  However, we enjoyed each other's company and catching up with one another.

After we finally finished up dinner and settled our bill we headed over to the show we were late for only to find out that our tickets wouldn't scan properly to get in the doors.  We were all dumbfounded at this point and thinking no way the night could get worse. However, you hear all kinds of stories about counterfeit tickets and although we bought our tickets directly from Ticket Master, we were so confused as to why they were sending us to the Ticket Office instead of letting us in to our seats.

The gentleman helping us was really nice, but he was making us very nervous.  He was checking our ID's, checking his computer, asking all kinds of questions and getting other employees to assist him.  In the end we found out the section we had purchased our tickets for no longer existed after a recent remodel to the venue so we were being upgraded!!!  We acted like 10 year old girls at that point and started screaming and jumping up and down.  He was such a good sport and snapped a photo with us.

That moment totally turned our night around!  We were so pumped and couldn't wait to see our seats, but once inside we needed a quick picture first!

#HeadsDownEyesUp was the advice of our awesome photographer and fellow Gaga fan.

When we finally got to our seats we couldn't believe how close we were!  We originally had been in the nose-bleed section.  Tickets weren't cheap, but even still we were going to be WAY up there.  This was such a different experience and such a great view.

When Lady Gaga finally came on stage she was amazing.  Her costumes, the dancing, the lights and all the theatrics made for such a great show. Fun old songs were mixed in with the new and it was all so entertaining.  You can tell she has such a loyal fan base and we loved being there being a part of it.

During the night she moved all over the venue to mini-stages all over the floor and giving everyone a great view.  It felt like a very intimate venue, even though there are about 12,000 people there that night.

It was a great night with great friends and reminded us all that it is so important to take time out to spend time with your best girl friends.  We all have kids and have super busy lives and getting away for night on a random Tuesday night takes a lot of preparation and very early wake-up calls the next day, but it was so worth it!

For the Love of Music

I haven't been to a concert in ages. We used to attend concerts all the time, but I think the last concert we attended was Luke Bryan with Carrie Beth a few months before Baby Cute was born. Needless to say, it's been awhile.

This year though we have several on the calendar, and two of them have been in the last week. They were both so much fun, and I would say if you a fan of either one of these artists and they are making a stop in a city near you, it's worth the ticket price.

First, up we took a trip down memory lane with the soundtrack of my youth. My dad is a HUGE Billy Joel fan. He has been to tons of his concerts up and down the east coast, and religiously plays his music still. In fact, rumor has it one of my sister's is named after a former wife of his. When tickets came on sale a few months ago, dad was beyond excited to hear about his new tour taking place in ballparks. Baseball and Billy Joel? I'm pretty sure it doesn't get much better for him. He grabbed who was ever willing to go see it with him a ticket.

Mr. Cute and I were the only willing volunteers.

But the concert was a blast, and it was fun that it was the first official concert in the new SunTrust park.

So many songs he played were ones I remember blaring in the car throughout my childhood. Dancing and singing all those tunes brought back so many memories!

Billy Joel put on an excellent show, and I think some of my favorite parts were when he covered songs from other local artists. He had a ton of fun interaction with the crowd, sang "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" because hello, ballpark tour, and put on a super fun encore.

It was such a fun evening, and I am so glad that my dad was able to add another epic Billy Joel concert to his list.

Next up, this past weekend we headed to Greenville, South Carolina for the Eric Church concert. I have a confession - I have never heard one single song Church has ever made.

The only time I ever listen to country music is when my husband has control of the radio - and he comes in second behind the kids of course - or when we are with friends who listen to it, put it on. That being said, I was so excited about this trip because even though it would be quick, we were going to see some of our best friends that live in Greenville now.

They picked us up for a quick dinner at one of their favorite local spots - Firebirds Wood Fired Grill.

It was so so yummy, and had an amazing atmosphere and great food. There are a few locations sprinkled around The South if you want to give it a try.

After our quick dinner we then headed to the concert together. It was a blast, and even though I didn't know a single thing about Eric Church I will say he put on a pretty entertaining show.

He was extremely involved with the crowd - often stopping to sign autographs, shake hands, and cheer along with everyone.

We had pretty close seats, but overall the Bon Secours Wellness Arena is a pretty small stadium so you get an intimate feel no matter where you are seated. I love venues like that! I'd see another concert there in a heartbeat.

One of my favorite parts was when people threw boots on stage during a song. He just picked them up, asked for more, and then signed and returned them all. How nice is that? And I'm not gonna lie, I was nervous for those boots. Impressive memory because each and every one was returned to its rightful owner.

I was also super pumped that our seats were located on the same entrance as the funnel cake stand. I mean sure there were margaritas flowing, and beer to be consumed...but funnel cake? That's my jam.

Church sang for over three and half hours. The crowd continuously begged for more, and Church delivered. Mr. Cute and company were in country singing heaven, and I was glad to be along for the ride.

Once it wrapped up it was well into the next day, and we were exhausted. Greenville was brief, but from what I've seen I already can't wait to visit again soon!

Now it's time to plan for the next show. Have you seen any good concerts lately? Anything we need to add to our calendar?
