Mine is a family full of Foodies... and good old fashioned "Eaters". During the holidays, we are blessed that the food is plentiful, family is all around, and our dining traditions are firmly in place.
In no particular order, here are some of my favorite holiday "Foodie" memories...
Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
Potato Latkes
Home made Chex Mix
Red Jello Salad
Brisket with Onions and Carrots
Angel Food Cake with Cool Whip piled on top
Honey Baked Ham
Oven-baked French Toast
Tamales
Triple Chocolate Cookies dipped in Hot Chocolate with Marshmellows
Made-to-order Omlets
Hot Crab Dip
Green Beans with Almonds - the soggy frozen kind
Mom's Famous Hockey Pucks - also knows as burnt dinner rolls
Bacon from the 4-H Auction
Matzo Ball Soup
Leftover Ham Sandwiches with Miracle Whip on White Bread
Cheesy Potatoes
Whatever holiday you celebrate, may your bellies be full, your spirits high, and your loved ones near.
Happy holidays! xo jj

ReplyDeletehave a very merry christmas jj....smiles...you are a gift yourself...
Don't make the chocolate or fudge or ? disappear too quickly.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas
I'm adding a new one for us this year: French Onion Soup! Oh, it's simmering on the stove right now looking absolutely scrumptious! :-)
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me JJ. Our tradition is to be non-traditional. Tonight we are having tamales and then tomorrow it's lasagna made by my hubby. I've done lots of baking - 3 types of biscotti, pumpkin scones, pumpkin choc chip bread, white choc cranberry shortbread cookies and i can't stay away from the dark choc almond roca that I bought at the store. Merry Christmas my friend, hope it's a great day!! Hugs
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and your foodie family!!
ReplyDeleteLots of good foods on your list. Thank goodness it's the season to indulge!

ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing variety of yum! I'm going to have to look up the baked French Toast. That is something new for me. :)
ReplyDeleteCheers,

Mom's hockey pucks made me laugh. You have some good memories of food and fun with your family. Hope your mom is doing well.
ReplyDeleteYou sure have some of my favourites there too, Joanna. And now I'm ready for a snack!
ReplyDeleteI hope that you and yours had a beautiful holiday.
Our Christmas dinner is generally a repeat of our Thanksgiving feast, albeit in a different locale (my home for Thanksgiving, My Grandma's [now My Uncle's, since she passed last year] for Christmas. And that meal is probably my favorite of the entire calendar. The food is wonderful, but the people around the table make it magnificent and warm.
ReplyDeleteChristmas at your place sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteHi Joanna, stopped in to wish you a Happy Holiday season. I loved your list, although I feel like I can never eat again. lets just say it was plentiful here. hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteYour list includes delicious sounding foods.
ReplyDeleteHmmm. Okay, we have different lists! But it's having the list of loved foods that is important.
ReplyDeleteHope your holiday measured up in every way to that list of favorites! Cheesy potatoes and left over ham with Miracle Whip - still love those!
ReplyDeleteChex Mix! I totally forgot that! Wow! Also, everything else on your list is on my list of favorite things.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to pop by and wish you the happiest new year. May your 2013 be full of blessings, laughter, and happy surprises. Thank you for being a blog friend and a joyful part of my life.
ReplyDeleteNice list. For me, the holidays are mostly about food and family. So to match your food list, here's some of my favorite holiday family things:
ReplyDeleteSledding on the "small" hill for the first time with my grand daughter.
Uncle S's inappropriate jokes at the dinner table.
Watching my 30 year old son play with my grand daughter's new video games, he's such a goober.
Shopping with my oldest daughter.
Looking at all of the photos from the family gatherings.
There's more, but I need more coffee. Happy holidays sweetie.
HAPPY NEW YEAR CHICK, MAY 2013 BE AN AWESOME YEAR FOR YOU.
ReplyDeleteExcept for the hockey pucks, that sounds like a fine list. What time does the party start? Wait... I think I missed the party. Oh, well... Happy New Year, anyway!
ReplyDeleteI love food and memories. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteoh my.......now I need to go make a sandwich.....!!
ReplyDeleteAh, cheesy potatoes ... my mom (who has dementia now), used to make these for every holiday meal because my son adored them. Everyone did! Congrats on your Huffo-Po award too! Happy New Year!
