here's the plan, get  Sotomayor and/or Kagan to resign, give Kamala the job, then Joe could step aside and let some of the young guys and gals fight it out at a made for TV contested convention.

This will never fly with or without Moscow Mitch it is a foolhardy idea IMO.  At this point we have to stick with the Supremes we have.
