Restoring a Lost Registration
When you purchase Geneforge 2 - Infestation, you download the full version of the game. If you need to restore the game, redownload the game using the same link in the email confirmation you received from the store where you purchased it. If you have any issues we can help you get a new copy, simply contact us at support@spiderwebsoftware.com.

We have updated Geneforge 2 - Infestation for Windows to v1.0.4. To update the full version, go to where you dowloaded the full game from, re-download the new version, and install it over your existing installation.
Common Windows Issues

Geneforge 2 - Infestation is able to be drawn in a magnified mode to make the interface bigger. If you are having a hard time reading the text or selecting text, this should help. Playing in full screen will give the game more room for magnification. You can switch to other apps by pressing Alt-Tab (Command-Tab on Mac). Note that, on smaller monitors, there is a limit to how much the game can magnify itself. It has to leave the interface small enough to fit onscreen. On 15” or smaller monitors, only the higher magnification level may have an effect (and then only on fullscreen mode). If magnification still doesn’t help, sadly, a larger monitor may be necessary. |

Geneforge 2 uses DirectX and is, graphically, not a very demanding game. However, some systems, due to hardware or video driver problems, have been having trouble running it at an acceptable speed. Other systems have displayed odd or corrupted graphics. Should the game not run correctly for you, follow the steps below:

Locating Your Windows Saved Games
Your saved games will be found in your My Documents folder, specifically in "My Documents/Spiderweb Software/Geneforge 2 Saved Games". Open that folder and your saved games will be inside, in folders named 'Save0', 'Save1', etc.

Version 1.0.1 - April 4, 2024
- Enemy pyroroamers do less damage when they explode.
- In the first room in the game, putting the dagger in your junk bag no longer has undesirable results.
- The Projection Band now has the correct bonuses.
- Braan in the Crags was getting killed offscreen. This should stop happening.
- Grubbhins (in Western Mines) is a bit weaker.
- You can now pass the Golem Bridge from the west with enough Leadership skill.
- The Bound One is now more difficult when challenged with the Emissary’s baton.

- To see one of your creation’s resistances, you can now mouse over its health in the editing window.
- Genevforge 2 now defaults to Whole Screen drawing mode. (If the game is already installed, you can switch Game Screen Area to Whole Screen in the Settings window.)
- Players with very large monitors get a more helpful resolution selection window.
- The gazer in the Radiant College will be less of a problem for Pacifist players.
- More advanced versions of Sharon’s Bracelet are better.
- Problems with the Zhass-Uss Outskirts stairway are fixed.
- A rare bug that caused characters to get stuck in the architecture should be better now.
- Zensital no longer turns on you when you make the nearby faction angry,
- Damaged pylons now take longer to return to functionality.
- Weapon Shaping now works with the Feisty Slap Glove.
- Your magical creations can be augmented in more useful ways.
- The rotghroth Rotting Lunge attack now takes a full turn.
- The Creation Haste upgrade now has a 50% chance to work.
- The Creation More Criticals upgrade now has a 40% chance to work.
- Hannah’s coin is now upgraded correctly.
- Slow and Wrack statuses go down less quickly on bosses.
- Added clarity to the message when trying to equip a weapon you don’t have the stats for.
- The standard array of minor tweaks and typo fixes.

- An exploit that allowed passing mines easily has been fixed.
- The scroll speed setting now works correctly for the keyboard.
- Autosaves now happen every five minutes.

- The Geneforge 2 engine now supports proper monitor scaling, and everything should be drawn at a much more legible and attractive size. In Settings, you can toggle between Fullscreen and Windowed mode. You can also set magnification to zoom the view in or out.

- A longstanding Mac issue with corrupted screenshots should be fixed.

Unfortunately, something has gone wrong with the software Apple uses to authenticate apps. This is resulting in our games sometimes refusing to launch on the newest versions of MacOS. We aren't the only developer whose games are having this problem. We believe Apple will fix it soon. Until then, there is a workaround that should make your game work.

If the game will not launch or you launch the game and the graphics don't appear or look wrong, quit the game. Then go into Steam and turn off Steam Overlay. To turn the Steam Overlay off: Go to the Steam Menu in the upper left, select Preferences, UN-check the "Enable the Steam Overlay while in game.” Select Ok to save it. This fixes problems with a number of Macintosh games on Steam. |
Locating Your Mac OS X Saved Games
Your game save files are stored in the Spiderweb Software subfolder under the Application Support folder in your user's Library folder, which can be difficult to find. To open it, press Command-Shift-G to Go To Folder, enter "~/Library/Application Support/Spiderweb Software", and press return. Your saved games are in the folder "Geneforge 2 Saved Games". Open that folder and your saved games will be inside, in folders named 'Save0', 'Save1', etc.

Geneforge 2 - Infestation Support for iOS
Geneforge 2 HD is out and the current version is 1.0.1. You must update it on your iPad through the App Store.
Transferring Your Saved Games Off and On an iOS Device
You can copy your Geneforge 2 saved games onto and off of your iPad.
On Windows or Macintosh (versions 10.14 or earlier) you can use iTunes file sharing. To do this:
- Launch iTunes. Connect your iPad with a cable. Click the iPad icon in iTunes and go to the Apps page.
- Scroll the File Sharing section at the bottom until you see Geneforge 2. Select it.
- A folder named “Spiderweb Software” will appear to the right. This contains your Geneforge 2 saved games. You can drag this into your desktop, change the saved games in it, and drag it back into iTunes.
For Macintosh (version 10.15 or later):
- Connect your iPad with a cable. Open a Finder window. Your device should be listed to the left. Select it.
- Select the Files tab. You should see Geneforge 2. Select it.
- The folder below contains your Geneforge 2 saved games. You can drag this into your desktop, change the saved games in it, and drag it back into the Files area. You may need to delete the saved game folder on the iPad before you copy the new saved games in. (Make sure not to delete your only copy!)
Saved games files on your iOS device are compatible with the Windows and Mac versions of Geneforge 2.
