You Mean the World To Me

Hello there! Right now over at the Sunday Stamps blog we have a fun sketch challenge going on, brought to us by Amy.

I needed a card for a package I was sending out to my brand new grandson (born Dec.16th!). I've been wanting to use the SU set Happier Than Happy and this was the perfect reason to get it out!

I used the coordinating DSP and cut out the image area I wanted to use for the center of the card. I didn't want to waste any paper so the layer on the card base is where I cut the center panel from, and I just cut a green backing panel to cover up the missing center rectangle. The center is popped up for extra dimension.

One of my youngest sons best friends from high school is in the military in NY and he and his wife also just had their first child so although I didn't follow the sketch, I did make another super easy card to include in the box I sent them.

Make sure to head over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT created and then play along with us, we'd love to see how you interpret this sketch!

Welcome Little One

This week over at the Creative Confetti Challenge Julie wants to see baby cards. I got the Power Poppy set Precious Baby a few months ago but it hadn't seen ink yet so this was the perfect excuse to play with it!

I have wayyyyy too much DSP in my stash so I grabbed some that's been in there for a while and that I thought would go well with this image. All the colors I used on the image were pulled directly from the paper.

I had colored another image from the set because I was going to make 2 cards with similar colors, just a reversal of colors but wouldn't you know it, as soon as I go to start putting the card together I can't find the image. One minute it was right there on my craft desk and now I have no idea where it went :/ Ten bucks says I find it after I finish this post and I go back to the craft room!

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget, every time you play along with Creative Confetti you are entered to win a $25.00 gift certificate to the Power Poppy shop. There are still some great deals going on in the shop so that $25.00 could really go far!!

Sweet Congratulatons

It's time for my DT Spotlight over at the Kitty Bee Designs blog and this week I am highlighting the Emily the Elephant image. How sweet is she? I just love the little flower by her ear!

Since I would be coloring the elephant gray I knew that I wanted to use yellow for a companion color and as the card came together it morphed into a congratulations card for a new baby. Elephants are the perfect image to welcome a new little one into the world!

For my layout I used the current sketch over at The Paper Players.

You can find this image and other great ones in the Kitty Bee Designs Etsy shop HERE.

Create Memories

Hello there! I hope everyone had a nice Christmas! Mine was fantastic...lots of great memories created with hubby and the kids. I'm already thinking of my plans for next year :)

I finally managed to sit down and do some stamping. A gal contacted me about making a custom card for her sister, as she is going to ask her to be her son's godmother. I ended up scrapping this card as she wanted some specific text across the front of the card but this card is still good for other occasions, like a baby shower.

I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, it was perfect to use with this tree from SU. Maybe it's just me but I have an awful time using this particular set and really don't pull it out that often. I pulled out a retired color, Bashful Blue, to create this card. The card base, text and tree trunk are all Basic Gray.

Thanks for stopping by!

For Baby at Friday Mashup

Happy Friday to everyone! We are FINALLY getting some snow here in southcentral Alaska which puts me in a very good mood, I love it! I hope you are enjoying your weather, wherever you may be.

Another thing that puts me in a good mood....Friday Mashup challenges and yes, it's time for another one :) This week Tara is our hostess and she wants us to use the colors Chocolate Chip, Coastal Cabana and Tangerine Tango, plus she'd like to see a project for baby.

I used the Something for Baby set. I had got it on a preorder when it first came out and I've never used it today. Am I the only one who does stuff like that? I also have to admit that I didn't look closely at the colors and so I used Soft Suede, Coastal Cabana and Calypso Coral. To finish my card off I used In Color Sequins. Can I say how much I dislike trying to place sequins? Thank goodness for stamping friends who are available to talk you off the crafting ledge ;)

I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches as my jumping off point, isnt it a great sketch? I think I need to create some more cards this weekend using it!

Head over to The Friday Mashup to check out the rest of the great projects from the DT and also check out Freshly Made Sketches and play along with them!

This week's Mashup Challenge is:

  • Create a project with a "Baby Theme".
  • Create a project  with "Brown, Aqua & Tangerine".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Baby project with the above colors".

Stamps: Something for Baby, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Soft Suede, Whisper White, Best Year Ever DSP
Ink: Soft Suede, Calypso Coral
Accessories: In Color Sequins, sponges, dimensionals

Baby Congratulations

My husband has a coworker that will be taking maternity leave soon and he asked me to make a card for her. I ended up using mostly retired items but I still really love how the card came out!

I started with Certainly Celery(retired) as my card base and then added some Delicate Dots(retired) DSP. Since my husband doesn't know if she is having a girl or boy I thought this was perfect paper for a gender neutral baby card. I embossed a panel of So Saffron with the Square Lattice folder and matted that on more Certainly Celery. The Two by Two stamp is also retired but I think its such an adorable image! I finished it off with some Certainly Celery across the middle and if this layout looks familiar to some its because it was
recently a sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches.

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Two by Two(retired)
Paper: Certainly Celery(retired), So Saffron, Whisper White, Delicate Dots DSP(retired)
Ink: Black StazOn, Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Smoky Slate, So Saffron, More Mustard, Bashful Blue(retired)
Accessories: Big Shot, Square Lattice EF, Certainly Celery Ribbon(retired), dimensionals

If you arent familiar with how to make a Double Z Fold card then you can check out there tutorial at Splitcoaststampers HERE.

I hope you'll come by The Friday Mashup blog and play along with us!

  1. Create a project using an "Umbrella Image".
  2. Create a "Double Z Fold Card".
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a "Double Z Fold Card with an Umbrella Image".

Baby Colors for Friday Mashup

Happy Friday to everyone! I hope you're ready for the weekend, and what better way to start it then to play along with us at The Friday Mashup!

Liliana has a great mashup for us this week. She wants us to make a project for a baby/baby shower and to also use the colors So Saffron, Pool Party, Real Red and a neutral of your choice.

Baby cards are always so hard for me, I dont know why. Maybe its because I havent been around babies in a while and dont have any baby mojo LOL I tried my best though and honestly, who can go wrong using this adorable elephant from Henry Says.

1. Make a project for a "Baby Shower or a Baby".
2. Or Make a project using the Colors "Pool Party, Real Red, So Saffron & a Neutral".
3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project for a "Baby/Shower using the Colors listed above".

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Henry Says, Beyond Plaid
Paper: Pool Party, So Saffron, Real Red, Whisper White
Ink: Pool Party, So Saffron, Real Red, Black StazOn
Accessories: Cuttlebug, Swiss Dots EF, So Saffron ribbon(retired), dimensionals

Pleated Baby Wishes

It's time for another Friday Mashup challenge! This week Amy is bringing us the challenge and it's a fun one! She wants to create a project that uses pleating, create a baby themed project OR mash it up and create a baby project that uses pleating.

I will be the first to admit that I don't particularly do well with projects for babies. Maybe its because my kids are older and I don't deal with anyone on a daily basis that has a baby but I just can never seem to get my creative juices flowing for a project like this.

After some hemming and hawing I finally decided on a neutral baby card that can be given to someone as a congratulations card. I used some retired stamps and DSP to finish the card. The pleating is in the form of some pleated Baja Breeze ribbon.

Make sure to head over to the Friday Mashup blog to see the rest of the cards from the design team, you wont be disappointed!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: A Slice of Life(retired), Itty Bitty Banners
Paper: So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Delicate Dots DSP(retired)
Ink: Black StazOn, Certainly Celery, Baja Breeze, Real Red
Accessories: Baja Breeze ribbon, dimensionals

MU#4--Lets Get Punch "Baby" with Kim!

Happy Friday everyone! Its time for another great challenge from the Mashup crew and this week our challenge comes from Kim! Lets see what Kim has to say:

It's Kim here, and I have a fun challenge for you! I work for a non-profit Christian ministry...and we help mommies and babies! I LOVE babies!! And I love making baby themed cards...for a new born, for a first birthday, even for the first time mom while she is still pregnant! Feel free to make other non-card baby-themed projects.

Now, part 2...Last night was literally the night of a major fund raiser for the ministry, and I have been working long hours trying to get things just right. I am generally a night-owl, but with the extra stress, I have been a little punchy lately...so there's the inspiration for the second part of the challenge!! Bring out your punches...special shapes, pretty borders and corners...even dies and sizzlits that you crank through your Big Shot. Can't wait to see what you create...Time to get Punchy, Baby!!

Isnt this a cool challenge? I'll tell you what, it definitely challenged me! I love babies, but really dont make any baby cards, and then I dont use my dies or punches that much either, so I was really out of my comfort zone! I sat there thinking about it and remembered a card my friend Tera had made for a swap we were in. I grabbed that out of my stash, and went looking for a tutorial, and this is the one I used.

Now, I originally started my card out intending it to be for a boy, since one of my daughters best friends is due to have a baby boy in about a week. It looks like somewhere along the way my brain had a different idea and the finished product is definitely girly. Oooops!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Punch Bunch
Paper: Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Delicate Dots DSP
Ink: Marina Mist, Bashul Blue, Certainly Celery, Summer Sun
Accessories: Small Tag punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, 1 3/4" circle punch, Scallop Circle punch, Whisper White ribbon, brads, sponge

Head over to The Friday Mashup and link up your creation!! Make sure you link directly to your project though please, not just to your blog, and if you're uploading to any online gallery use FM04. Cant wait to see all the great cards!

Zoo Baby

I combined 2 great challenges on todays card. The first is this weeks challenge from the Friday Mashup blog and we are supposed to create a card using "zoo animals". I went through my stash, trying to find something that would work, and I came across the set 'Zoofari'. My daughter has a friend that is expecting a little boy and her baby shower is coming up, so I thought the little rhino would make a cute image for a baby card.
I added some silver Stickles to the horn to give it a little pop, and the square the rhino is stamped on is popped up with dimensionals. When my daughter got home I showed her the card and she told me her friends theme for the baby is jungle animals so it worked out perfectly!

The sketch is this weeks challenge over at the Stamping 411:Saturday Sketch Challenge. Love this clean and simple sketch!

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Zoofari, Itty Bitty Backgrounds, sentiment from Greetings Galore
Paper: Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Bashul Blue, Cutie Pie DSP
Ink: Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue, Going Gray, Black StazOn
Accessories: Silver Stickles, Bashful Blue/Certainly Celery/Whisper White ribbon, sponge, dimensionals
