OWH S&S Challenge - “Unloved Unused Supplies”

I {love you}

While I was going through some of my stash, I found a set of 3D stickers. This one was perfect. I added adhesive to the back of sticker to ensure that it will stick well onto the golden shimmery cardstock.  I think it looks very nice on the top of this Tulip border embossed cardbase in white again.

OWH Midweek Throwdown Challenge

thinking of you "Snow Angel"

I made this card for OWH Midweek Throwdown Challenge.  This week's challenge is to make a Christmas card.  Instead of Christmas sentiment, I stamped the sentiment - thinking of you.  For the snowflakes background, I inked the embossing folder and ran it through the Cuttlebug machine.  The digital image is from Fred, She Said Designs. It is one of her colored versions.

UPDATE:  Added step-by-step photos here that are showing how I did the bacground.

You need Cuttlebug machine, Embossing Folder, Distress Ink.
Ink over by rubbing the negative side of embossing folder.
Run it through.
Done!

OWH S&S Midweek Throwdown - Recipe Challenge

This week's challenge is a recipe challenge to make a card using a die cut or punch, ribbon and heat or dry embossing!

I started making this card as a sample card for my voluntary cardmakers for OWH Cardmaking Party on this Sunday, August 29th at Elk Grove Grocery Outlet Conference Room.

First I didn't really understand the term Recipe Challenge.  Maybe I am not qualified for this challenge because I didn't add a ribbon or embossing on this card.  I used small circle punch for matching circles to the design of patterned paper though.  I am not quite happy how the color of Ciara's body part turned out that didn't blend well.  Well.... next time I will do better.  My card base is SU's Concord Crush although it looks like almost black in the photo.  I sponged the edges witht the same color ink.

The Ciara digital image and the sentiment are drawn by Sandy just for OWH.  You can find it HERE.

UPDATE:  I mane another one to be qualified for this challenge.  I think this one will be a good one, too, for the Cardmaking Party.

CARDS FOR MEN, OWH S&S Stash Challenges - King of the Grill Happy Father's Day Easel Card

I made this card for CARDS FOR MEN Challenge No. 8 this week.  I just found out this site and thought that I would give it a try since creating cards for men has been always a challenge for me.  Also I wanted to get inspired by other cardmaker's creative cards for men.  I used the focal image from one of the Clip Art sites for free.  This challenge's theme is Fancy Folds - anything other than a basic bi-fold card so I made an easel card.  The card size is 4 3/4" x 4 3/4".

I am also entering in the OWH S&S Stash Challenge: Hardware.  Hardware is any metal embellishment including brads, eyelets, hinges, photo corners, paper clips, ribbon slides, bookplates, photo hangers, edge anchors or other metal charms.  I used brads for each corner of my card front.

Cupcake Monkey Birthday Card for OWH S&S and Stamping 411

I used the Cupcake Monkey image from Dustin Pike.  The sentiment is from Pink Cat Studio.  I made paper strip thread to tie the button.

Making Paper Strip Thread:
To match the color with colorstcok, I made two paper strip thread from the same cardstock.  Cut a stash of cardstock into thin strips and tie the knots at the back of the button.

Happy Birthday Trifold Shutter Card

This morning, I read a post about the Trifold Shutter Card Tutorial at the OWH Stars and Stamps Blog. What a great tutorial! It is open for two weeks to give you time to figure out this challenging card.

I made this card with an idea that came up to my mind while I was reading one of comments that questioning how can soldiers write their message on this card.

This is a close up of the middle panel of the card. Not only this blank space but also I made it as a pocket and inserted a paper inside for wrting more messages. I put the ribbon at the top left of the inside paper to make it easier to pull it out.
