Candy Alert for OWH Memorial Day Weekend Bloghop May 25-27, 2013
It is going to be the fourth year of OWH Memorial Day Weekend Bloghop since I first participated in the first one and started my blog for that reason. I am so grateful for the opportunity to take once again. This is my small token of appreciation for our heroes for their services and also for Operation Write Home for their leadership and support for my fellow OWH cardmakers.
I have no hesitation to introduce myself as a cardmaker who makes cards for the Troops because I know it opens up a very pleasant conversation even with a total stranger. Last week at my apartment complex parking lot, I saw a truck that has a bumper sticker "Korea Veteran". Can you imagine how I felt when I first saw it? I was wondering if I ever have a chance to meet the driver of the truck. Guess what? On Tuesday this week, I was walking the path that I take every day and ran into a man who was getting out of the truck. Oh my! I approached him and started a conversation by mentioning about his bumper sticker and introduced myself as a Korean who came to this country 7 years ago and make cards for the Troops. He said "I appreciate that." He told me that he served 13 months in Korea from 1952 to 1953 and said "Boy, it was so cold." Yes, it is very cold in winter time in Korea. Oh wow... 61 years ago he was there. I said "Thanks for your service." I didn't want to take his time too much on that evening but I hoped to see him soon with my special thanks card for him.
Now I would like to invite you to OWH Memorial Day Weekend Bloghop starting tomorrow. I am sure there will be tons of inspirations that you won't want to miss.
Candy Alert!
I am offering a blog candy to one lucky winner of a new stamp set and a package of supply to make cards for our heroes and donate them through the Operation Write Home. My challenge for you is to take OWH Tuesday Tutorial: The One Sheet Wonder challenge and share your project with my fellow OWH cardmakers. This challenge started on Tuesday and there are 6 challengers already. I hope you will join me in the challenge and have a chance to win my blog candy.
I have posted more variations of the One Sheet Wonder on my blog. Please check them out, too, for your reference.

What a great challenge and motivator - especially for something I already planned to do! LOVE this set from Stampin' Up! I am crazy for silhouette sets and would love to add this one to my stash of tools. Thanks for giving me a direction today once I have finished the bloghop!
ReplyDeleteI did try your OSW template. It made cardmaking really fast. I don't have much in the way of double sided paper though so I had to use 2 sheets. I have not figured out yet how to post on OWH but I did start a blog. Now I have to learn more on the how to's. I really appreciate your work and OWH. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI will give it a try...I have some pretty paper to try it with...pictures to follow. thank you for the tutorial and the chance to win some yummy blog "candy"
ReplyDeleteWhat a great candy. I'll have to try the one sheet wonder challenge.

This is a fun blog hoop - so much inspiration, I decided to make some Any Hero cards this afternoon, and now I've found your one sheet wonder - wonder-ful! Thanks for posting it! Your story about meeting the veteran in your parking lot touched my heart, as I'm sure you touched his.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sharing your ideas! Feels good to get a bunch of cards done in a short amount of time. This certainly helps speed up the process... and even better no scraps!
ReplyDeleteI love the OSW technique! It is perfect with those of us with OCD and cannot have scraps :)!!! Thanks for a chance to win!!
ReplyDeleteI sure hope to participate in that challenge! I have my sheet of double sided paper out already and hope to start on it soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your tutorial on that.
I couldn't find any double sided paper in my stash, but used two complementary sheets for basically the same idea. Thanks for sharing your layout.
ReplyDeleteThat's great! You will make more cards out of two sheets.
DeleteI successfully did it, thanks to your template! Linked over at the OWH blog :)
ReplyDeleteYour one sheet wonders are ones I keep coming back to. Thank you for your hard work and inspiration!
