Friends of Winter

Hello!

It's the time of year when companies begin releasing Christmas stamps and I start thinking about making Christmas cards. Truth be told, I have stamps I purchased last year that I didn't use in my card making 😜 but I am a sucker for Christmas product. I was able to pop out of the Scrap Shotz booth and visit the Studio Katia booth at the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival last weekend and picked up the super cute Friends of Winter stamp and die set.

I paired the stamp set with the new Lawn Fawn Knit Picky 6x6 patterned paper and created this:

How cute is that elf in his knit sweater and hat?

I stamped the image on white Neenah card stock and on Lawn Fawn patterned paper The face, mitts, pants and shoes are coloured with Copic markers. The sweater and hat were fussy cut from the image stamped on the patterned paper while the elf is cut with the coordinating elf die.

I used the Studio Katia Dotted Patterns Set 1 to die cut the rectangle, white mat and circle. I've embossed the white mat with a dot embossing folder and brushed Perfect Pearls in pearl over it.
The circle is inked with Distress Ink in Peacock Feathers.
Studio Katia clear round drops in small and medium and a lone iridescent sequin provide some shine while Nuvo Crystal drops in Bright Gold become buttons on the sweater and bells on the shoes.

I'm looking forward to making more of these!

Rainbow Maker-Day 2

Rainbow stamping is the theme for day 2 of the Rainbow Maker card class at Online Card Classes. I wasn't thrilled with the results, may have been the paper I was using but I struggled to get a solid stamped image.

I will have to try this one again after I work my way through all the lessons.😀

Rainbow Maker

Hello!

I signed up for the latest class over at Online Card Classes - Rainbow Maker. So many different ways to create rainbows or use rainbow colours on your cards.
Each class offers at least 3 video tutorials on the assorted techniques, I highly recommend them!

Sharing a few cards I've created so far:

Distress ink blending.

Ink blending with a stencil brush, I used distress inks.

Ink blending with Distress Oxides using 3 colours only.

I had my friend's kids over the other day and she gifted me with these flowers which have served as the perfect rainbow background for some of these cards:

I'm off to create more rainbows! Thanks for stopping by😄

#Craft Room Reorganization

Hello!

I've been thinking about rearranging my craft room/office and when a couple of family members went off to the lake for a week I thought it was the perfect time to invade the common areas with my crap...I mean essential items 😉while I move furniture around and purge unwanted items.

Here are some BEFORE photos:

It is lovely to have 2 windows in this space but a bit challenging when placing furniture.

This wall is directly across the desk are in the photo above and houses 2 Ikea Expedit cubbies.
Another Ikea Expedit cubby to the right of my desk area. I think you can see the common theme is stuff on the floor😐
It was getting so disorganized I didn't want to spend time creating in here!

Now on to photos after the room has been emptied, purged and reorganized :

The desk/table has been turned and now I can move around 3 sides of my work area and even better, have a friend over to work in the same space!
I've moved one of the Ikea cubbies from the wall on the left of the photo to the short wall in between the windows. This area houses my planner, colouring implements, bible journal/study and some odds and ends. Notice the lack of stuff on the floor, I am so excited about that!!
This wall is across from the desk area. I've placed the cubby horizontal to gain a large usable surface area which now houses my silhouette cameo, big shot and new Epson wireless printer. The small area in between the end of the shelf and the door holds my card stock drawer and photo storage drawers.

This is my desk arrangement, so much more practical for working in, I can leave things to dry if needed on one side and still work on another project or my computer. My printer sits on a storage box under the table. The Ikea Expedit cubby houses patterned paper, card stock, specialty papers, photos to be scrapbooked, etc. lots of stuff in here that I hope to make good use of! The drawers just under the desk area are from Ikea as well. They hold my printer/cameo supplies, inks, Nuvo drops, Mini accessories, PL cards, layouts to be completed, punches and adhesive supplies.

The best thing about this reorganization is that I no longer dread going in to my space to create and I am highly motivated to keep it easy to work in. In fact I've knocked out 2 layouts in progress, a 2 page spread and experimented with my Minc!

Thanks for stopping to take a look!

Many Thanks

Hello Friends!

A little bit ago I shared this Distress Crayon & Ink background with you and a promise to show you the completed card.
As promised, here is the card:

The purple/violet background was die cut with an Elizabeth Craft Designs rectangle die, then layered over a Wild Whisper Designs World's Best line paper from the June Scrap Shotz kit.

The tulips are stamped with Versamark ink & the Altenew Tulip stamp set on kraft card stock, then coloured with Tim Holtz Distress Crayons.

The tulips were then fussy cut, layered over each other with foam tape and accented with glossy accents. I tied twine from a Scrap Shotz kit around the flowers to create a bouquet.
Lastly, the sentiment is cut with a My Favourite Things die, popped up with foam tape and then glazed with glossy accents.

Thanks for stopping by😊

Double the Fun in London!!

I enjoyed a once in a lifetime vacation with my family (we are a family of 6 so that's what makes it "once in a lifetime :) ) in the U.K. last summer, here is a layout I crafted to remember the event:

London Tour

We took a Big Bus Tour of London which also included a float down the Thames. It was so amazing to see places we've read about in history and/or seen in movies.
I had some extra die cuts I had cut with the Tim Holtz Cityscape Skyline die from another project along with die cuts from the Tim Holtz Bigz L Die Tiny Houses.

Here is a close up look at my "skyline". The die cuts and stickers are from the Scrap Shotz March kit

and the right hand side of the two page, spread. The neutral colours showcase the blues in the photos.

Thanks for taking in my latest project. There is a Design Team ongoing at Scrap Shotz RIGHT NOW!

You can find all the details HERE.

Card Background: Distress Crayons & Ink

Hello Everyone!

I finally had a chance to try out a technique Jennifer McGuire demonstrated in a video. Here is are the steps I followed:

1. Cut Kraft card stock to 4"x5.25"
2. Choose a stencil, I have used the Tim Holtz Blossom stencil
3. Place stencil on card stock, then apply a white distress crayon through the stencil
4. Allow to dry, I dried overnight.

5. Apply distress ink colour of choice with mini ink blending tool.

6. Let Distress Ink dry.

7. Gently wipe distress ink from the white crayon, crayon acts as a resist.

Pretty simple technique, I will be back to share a few cards created from the couple of backgrounds I made.

Thanks for stopping in 😊

Hi-Ya, Birthday Wishes and Thanks

Hello!
As I am in between Scrap Shotz Monthly kit club kits I have a wee bit of time to play with some items in my stash.

The following 2 cards feature the Altenew Tulip stamp. I stamped these images on watercolour paper and coloured one with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and the other with Gansai Tambi watercolor paints.

The cherry wood paper is from Altenew as well as the sentiment. Nuvo Crystal drops in Bright Gold finish off the card.

These next 2 cards feature the darling Mama Elephant Tiny Ninjas stamps. The images are stamped in black Memento Ink and colored with Copic markers. The Tim Holtz Diamonds layering stencil and  Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Fossilized Amber and Squeezed Lemonade form the the background for the  ninjas.

I've added Dollar Store sequins and some My Mind's Eye paper from my stash to complete the cards.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by!

Swing For the Fences

We like to play a game over at the Scrap Shotz forum called layout tag which begins with an inspiration layout for the first player who completes their layout then "tags" the next person on the list  until everyone has created their layout.

This was my layout from the most recent game of tag:

I am sorry I can't recall which paper line this was and it's not available anymore and I used it all up on this layout. The border of baseballs is my favourite part, after that cute thumbs up photo 😉.

I'll be sharing my most recent-April- kit projects on the Scrap Shotz blog beginning tomorrow-Mother's Day-so pop on over to take a look.

Thanks for stopping by!

Take a Peek At...

My latest scrapbook project in progress, I am creating with the Scrap Shotz April monthly kit which features the brand new Vicki Boutin line.

I picked up the Iridescent glaze as an add on to the kit and put it to work with the watercolour crayoned stencil included in the kit.

This is all I'm going to show you right now, you'll have to pop back in a few days to see the end result😛.
