December Daily-Twenty

Wow, just 5 days until Christmas Day! I go to the 25th only for my December Daily so I will be finished soon.
Today is about the last day of school for the kids and a Christmas hamper.

All caught up for now!

December Daily-Nineteen

Another day without a photo, no time to take one at the turkey lunch at Peyton's school today. I am adding a thank you card from one of her classmates to my book.

I had to add the Wednesday sticker(from my project life kit) when I noticed that the December calendar sticker is from last year so the date is on the wrong day for this year.

Thanks for stopping by :)

December Daily-Eighteen

Today was about a trip to Jack's school to see the multi-discipline project he and his classmates have been working on.
It's always nice to see what he's been up to at school and meet some of his friends.

Added some washi tape and an SC wood veneer accent, simple and done quickly!

Thanks for looking!

December Daily-Seventeen

Working on getting caught up on December Daily. There are always a few days where I don't get photos taken, just too busy and this was one of those days.

I've listed some of my to-do's today.

That fun tag is American Crafts from last Christmas time.

December Daily-14,15,16

Today's post cover's the last 3 days and here is day 14

Day 15

Day 16

I've used a mix of items from my stash, the Studio Calico DD kit and a piece of the Starbucks bag the blueberry scone was in.

Thanks for looking!

December Daily-Thirteen

Today is about my daughter's band concert. These are not the best photos, I forgot my camera and has to use the iPad to take pictures. My daughter is shall we say "vertically challenged" so I had to take a photo of just the top her head showing when she switched positions to play different instruments.

This is my favorite page so far. I used Pink Paislee Artisan Elements frames to highlight my daughter in the photos. The embellies are a mix of the Studio Calico December Daily kit and Authentique die cuts.

Thanks for looking!

December Daily-Twelve

At least one of use ends up sick during the month of December. Hopefully it will only be one person this year. We are determined to do our best to keep our family healthy for the holidays.

Day Twelve is about our sickie ;)

I've used some items from the Studio Calico DD kit, Teresa Collins washi tape and AC patterned paper-the red striped paper which is also glittered.

Thanks for looking!

December Daily-Eleven

Day Eleven, just a regular day, not much happening so I chose to follow Shimelle Laine's Journal Your Christmas prompt for the day.
Here is what our gifts will be wrapped in this year :)

I like this idea of putting some of the wrapping paper in my DD. I wonder how many years it will take me to use up this paper, should be fun to see in future December Daily's.

December Daily-Ten

So enjoying this project and my family is enjoying perusing previous years DD's. I need to get a photo of that!!

Here's day 10:

Simple, using the Simple Stories SN@P page protectore included in the book. I like divided page protectors and I used an Ali Edwards' journal technique, repitition, beginning each sentence with the same word "today".
Thanks for stopping by!

December Daily-Nine

As the Christmas decorations were now up we invited Grandpa & Grandma over for the afternoon and dinner.
We had a lovely time together :)

I just noticed the "y" fell off the page, I'll have to add a new one!

December Daily-Eight

Finally got the tree up on Saturday. Seriously purged some old decorations that had not been used in years. Felt good to downsize and just keep the meaningful decorations.

December Daily-Seven

Day seven completes the first week of December Daily 2012.

Today was about getting the Christmas cards finished. The fun part was making them, the tedious part is addressing and signing them ;)). It was more enjoyable working on them with a friend :)

December Daily-Day 6

A theme that is emerging for me in this year's December Daily is quick.
In less than 15 minutes I completed this page.
A creative masterpiece? Nope.
A memory unique to our family's December Daily 2012? Yup, and that's the goal.

Thanks for stopping by :))

December Daily-Day 5, 4 and 3

Back on track with DD, I finally made it to the store to pick up printer ink.

When I put my foundation pages together I was a little concerned that I wouldn't be able to use my creativity very much since I was not leaving room for more than one or 2 photos.
I am actually finding that this has made it easier to (a) keep up and (b) use all sorts of little odds and ends if I feel like it!

Here's the past 3 days:

A photo of my son leaving for school in the morning and yes it is still dark out when he leaves. I used some odds and ends I had left over from a Christmas card kit.

It has become a Christmas tradition for us to process shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child at Samaritan's Purse. This year was a little more special as our son was old enough to join us.

I used a bunch of Studio Calico goodies on this page.

The best part of these pages is that I was finished all 3 in about 30 minutes!
Thanks for taking a look!

December Daily-Day Two

I added the joy sticker to the photo and stamped the hello December stamp (stamp is from Studio Calido kit) on the die cut. It was a little tough to see, I should have embossed it instead, so I outlined it to make it stand out some.
Super simple and finished in 10 minutes :))

December Daily-Day One

So this first day of December is now documented. I chose to keep it simple but added a few little touches to feed my creativity ;)

Here is the front of day 1, I've printed out Shimelle Laine's "manifesto"to remind me why I am doing this project.

The back of day 1 is just one photo, a 5x7 of the snow covered trees in our yard. We've had quite a bit of snow the last few days and it is sticking to the trees and looks so beautiful. It's not common to have days and days of this kind of snow here. I feel calm and serene when looking at the trees. That's the feeling I hope to hang on to during this month of December.

Thanks for dropping by and I hope you've had a great start to your December Daily!

December Daily 2012-the foundation

It's December 1rst marking the beginning of December Daily!!

This is my 3rd year in a row participating in this memory keeping project and I am also following along with Shimelle Laine's Journal Your Christmas.

My foundation pages are super, super simple this year and came together in one afternoon as I was asked to put this together for a scrapbook crop and retail show for Scrap Shotz.

I've used a Simple Stories red SN@P binder (6x8) which comes with 10 pocket page protectors, 3 chipboard dividers and 8 Sn@p pages. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get hold of the Simple Stories Handmade Holiday collection in time to put together these pages so I used last year's Simple Stories 25 Days of Christmas. It is very similar in colour and feel to Handmade Holiday so I won't have a problem using the Handmade Holiday double sided journal cards and pockets with it.

Here is the cover:

The die cut piece is cut out of the patterned paper, sticker is from the same line. The stars are Studio Calico.

In putting together the actual pages I alternated one piece of paper with one pocket page insert. I've also assigned one day to the front of the page and the following day to the back. This does leave me room to insert extra pages if I have a long story to tell or more photos to add. It also takes the pressure off of me to try and fill a large area if the day has passed with little photos taken or not much going on.

Below are the first 5 pages, I think they give you a good idea what it looks like right now :)

I've also gathered together all my Christmas goodies including some new items I didn't really need but am looking forward to using in my book this year.

Thanks for taking a look and happy December Daily!!!

Wish Come True

My oldest had been asking for a Playstation 3 however since we already have a Wii I told him I certainly wasn't paying for one. Sounds kind of mean but I have a love/hate relationship with video games ;). Anyway, he was planning on saving up his money to buy one until I found out they were available on Airmiles and I had offered to get it using our Airmiles.
These are the photos I snapped of the kids when they came home from school and saw the PS3 had been delivered.

Christmas Cards vol.1

It is that time of year, Christmas card time! I can't remember how many years I've been making my own Christmas cards, at least 5 years. I still love doing them! I usually mass produce one or two designs but I've just purchased some super cool new product and with the help of the Card Crew challenges at Scrap Shotz, at least 7 people will get different cards from me this year, lol.

Here are my first two Christmas cards on the card making drive:

This tree is the small stacker tree by Dee's Distinctively dies which I have cut out of Elizabeth Crafts Green Metallic Shimmer Sheetz. I've used pop dots to pop it up and accented with Queen and Co. pearls.

This next card uses the same tree die,

which I have cut out of white cardstock adhered to double sided Sookwang tape, peeled off the liner to expose the sticky side and then covered with Glitter Ritz warm highlights glitter. The sparkle on this tree is just beautiful IRL.

More cards to come, thanks for looking!

Scrap Shotz Layout Tag

Layout tag is always so much fun and we are in midst of a tag with a twist you can check out here and play along with us at Scrap Shotz.

Here is my layout from our October layout tag:

I substituted pattern paper for some of the photos in the layout I lifted, all papers are Sketchbook by Amy Tan, quote is an Ali Edwards stamp. Love how this turned out!

Thanks for looking :)

All You Need Is Love

I was inspired by a Maggie Holmes layout over at Studio Calico and came up with this. Studio Calico, Amy Tan, Crate Paper, October Afternoon, Kesai art...lots of scrappy goodies on this.

With all the product the best part is still this photo of my sweet kids!

Thanks for looking :)

Project Life Week 43

This week saw 3 of us head to Mesquite, Nevada for a baseball tournament and the other 3 go to Grandma & Grandpa's for a few days. Unfortunately no photos of the kids at G & G's but a few from our trip. Here's the layout:
Lots of different pieces in addition to the photos, a note I left for my youngest son, part of our air reservation confirmation and a piece of the tournament schedule along with the program from church the Sunday before we left. I busted out the date stamp as well, another quick and easy layout!

Thanks for looking and now I am back on track, all caught up...until next week anyways ;)))

Project Life Week 41 & 42

Another couple of weeks of Project Life to share. The closer I get to the end of the year the happier I am with sticking with this, even with falling behind at times. I've been keeping the book in my office with plans to put it out on January 1, 2013 for everyone to look back over the course of the previous year. The family is going to love looking through it!

Here's Week 41:

A few more photos on this than the last few weeks. I've been experimenting adding words directly to my photos and I like the end results. I even computer journaled on this week, I don't do that very often.

Week 42

I ended up sick a couple of days this week and add to that spending lots of time prepping projects for the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival there was no time (or energy) to take photos. This note my daughter wrote for her brother took center stage on this spread. Simple and quick to finish :)

Project Life Week 39 & 40

I've been working away getting caught up on PL.

Week 39 - I only took one photo this week, just didn't get around to picking up the camera so I've filled the pockets with the church bulletin, a football ticket from our CFL team and a part of my daughter's receipt for school fees. I love that "Laugh, Love..." card, it's part of the Clementine PL core kit.

Week 40, this is a photo of the page including my little guy's artwork from bible study I've added in front of the page. Here is the full page:
Again, light on the photos again so I've added one of the core kit filler cards in addition to a piece of pp from my stash.

That's weeks 39 & 40! Thanks for looking :)

Project Life Week 38

Week 38
We are now into the beginning of bible study and I am so excited about what I will learn from the book of James! We have had great weather again I was blessed to be able to take Cole to the playground. He had a great time. We said good bye to Auntie Jenni as her new apartment was ready for her to move in to so now Cole can play in the living room instead of staying on the stairs only :) .
I can totally understand the love my sister has for her dogs when I saw the dogs so excited to see her when she came in the house. They didn't care what kind of day she had, they were just so happy to see her.

Thanks for keeping up with my updates, I'll be posting the next set within the next couple of weeks (i hope ;) )

Project Life Week 37

This week we had house guests as my sister and her 2 dogs stayed with us. It was awesome having my sister around just by herself, no hubby or child along. I really enjoyed her company and hanging out together. She is a fantastic person with a great sense of humor and so patient, I love her lots :) .
Bible study started this week as well along with Sunday School for Cole and he enjoyed himself at both.

We ended the week going to the CALMECA Mexican Independence Day/20 yr. Anniversary of the organization. As my mom was the inaugural president she was asked to give a speech and she did a fanstastic job, we were so proud of her!

Project Life Week 35 & 36

Hello!

Two more weeks in my Project Life project, I am thrilled to have kept up with it this far!

Week 35
We are settling in after camping and vacation. We have enjoyed phenomenal weather, nice and hot; Blake played his first Babe Ruth baseball league game this week and wrote and passed his Alberta Driver's Learner's License test. I used items for the core kit for this spread.

Week 36
The kids started the new school year this week and Blake received his government issued learner's license in the mail. I used items from the core kit and added a piece of Teresa Collins paper as well.
The 3 kids are in 3 different schools but so far it is not a big deal. They are happy and enjoying their schools :)

Project Life Week 34

Back with another Project Life update!

Week 34 was another 2 page spread as we were on vacation and celebrated a birthday as soon as we returned from our trip.

I included some packaging from my son's birthday gift and also some printed material from the hotel we stayed at on our trip. Again I added journaling directly to some of the photos.

Here is a close up of the right side:
I should point out that some of these photos were taken with my iPad3 :)

Here is the left side of spread:
My favorite photo here is the upper right photo as the kids are singing happy birthday to their brother :)

Tune in again in a few days for more Project Life layouts :)

Project Life 2012

So I caught up with PL and am now a few weeks behind. I have taken very few photos so I have the photos printed out but I have not put the layouts together yet. I have been saving receipts and such to include on the layouts since I don't have many photos.

Anyhoo, here are a couple of PL layouts:

Week 32
O.k. the left side is week 31 which I have already posted so week 32 on the right side. My family was gone camping this week and the Olympics were all over t.v. I adding journaling directly to one of the photos in PSE. The London 2012 image was printed from the web.

Week 33
Yes that's right, the rest of family returned from camping and I did laundry and we packed up for our family vacation to Chandler, Arizona. We had a FANTASTIC time, I love vacationing with my family!
Here is the right side of the 2 page spread, yes one of a handful of two page spreads in my PL ;)
More layouts to come, thanks for looking!
