Revlon: Perplex

Revlon Perplex (2 coats)

Yes, I found this elusive polish called Perplex from Revlon at my local 24-hour CVS pharmacy. You may think this polish looks a little familiar because it is a dupe of Chanel's Paradoxal. I don't own any Chanel polishes but it's not because I don't want to own any. Since I have this blog there is no way I could make purchases such as that (especially since I don't have a job yet :-( ), but if you look around at other blogs you will find some comparisons. Trust me, they are basically dupes. You guys know I love dusty polishes and this is a dusty purple polish with a nice mix of shimmer throughout. I think that little bit of shimmer is what the sets this polish apart and some of the last really big polishes from Chanel have this subtle shimmer (e.g. Jade and Riva ). If you're on a budget like myself and want a beautiful purple, keep checking your local Ulta, CVS, Walgreens and Rite-Aid (and your own respective drugstores around the country) to see if you can find it. It's in its own stand alone display, but the drugstores like to hide it so you may have to do a bit of investigating to find it. The application was surprisingly great and only needed 2 coats which is shown here. Good going, Revlon!

Finger Paints Holiday 2010: Holly Good Times

Finger Paints Holly Good Times (3 coats)

Can you believe it is December?! I definitely can't. This year has just flown by. Before I start the haul from Zoya, I thought I'd show a few polishes that I just have 1 of out of a collection such as this one from the latest Finger Paints Holiday collection. Although this one is a holiday polish, doesn't Holly Good Times look just like Thanksgiving to you! I absolutely love this glitter. It has a mix of gold and red glitter that is suspended in a clear base. The glitter is fairly densely packed and what you see here is 3 coats, but your can sort of a see a few bald spots. Personally, I like this better on its own, but you may be able to use this as a glitter topcoat. I only bought this one from the collection because none of the others really called to me, but they all see fine choices for the holiday season with several other reds and glitters inside. You can find Finger Paints polishes at your local Sally's Beauty Supply.

China Glaze Holiday 2010 'Tis the season to be Naughty AND Nice Collection: Party Hearty

China Glaze Party Hearty (3 coats alone and 2 coats over China Glaze Snow)

Oh yeah, this one is a must-have! I definitely left the best for last. Party Hearty is the perfect way to end this collection. It contains a large amount of small silver glitter with medium size green hexagonal glitter and large red hexagonal glitter in a clear base. It's not the most dense glitter, and the top picture has 3 coats and you can still see nail underneath. It is dense enough to deal with it alone, but I think it is best as a topcoat. Here it is shown with 2 coats of China Glaze's Snow polish so you can easily see glitter, but I think this would work with a wide array of different colors and finishes. If you don't own this one, run out to your nearest Ulta or Sally's Beauty Supply to see if it is still available. If not, you can always order online at e-tailers such as Victoria's Nail Supply which still has them in stock. I hope you enjoyed this collection as much as I did!
