When I got this yarn, I immediately knew what it needed to become. A large, cozy sweater in a favorite color of mine, perfect for chilly winter evenings! While knitting this, I was dreaming about visiting Wales, the place where the wonderful Triskelion Elmet Aran is dyed.

The sweater starts at the shoulders: First the shoulder saddles are worked, then stitches are picked up for the front and back, which are worked flat until the underarm. The work is then joined in the round, and the body is worked to the hem.

Stitches are picked up for the sleeves, and the sleeves are worked to the cuff. Finally, the held sts for the neckline are picked up again and the neckline is worked. Provisional cast on is a great helper here, as it avoids a lot of stiff edges throughout – however, just casting on and picking up sts in the cast on edge is also possible.

Yarn: Triskelion Elmet Aran (75 % Bluefaced Leicester, 25% Masham), 160 meters / 175 yards per 100g.
Colorways used:
C1: “Conn” (lighter shade): 3-4-4-5-5-6 skeins.
C2: “Wade” (darker shade): 3-3-3-3-3-4 skeins.
Actual appr. yardage/meterage needed:
C1: 460-530-630-700-790-900 meters / 500-580-690-780-860-980 yards
C2: 340-360-380-430-460-520 meters / 370-390-420-470-500-570 yards.

Needles: 4,5 mm / US 7 circulars, 80 cm / 32 inches for body.
4 mm / US 6 circulars, 80 cm / 32 inches for cuffs and hem.
DPNs in both sizes if you prefer working sleeves on those.

Other: Stitch markers, waste yarn for setting sts aside, waste yarn for provisional cast on if desired, tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

Gauge: Sample uses gauge of 17,5 sts & 24,5 rows to 10 cm / 4 inches in stockinette stitch in the round on larger needles, after blocking.
