My (Red Ric-Rac) Creative Space

Hi peeps,

Wow, is it really Thursday again?  The weeks are passing by so quickly at the moment.  I want them to slow down a little.

This week in My Creative Space, there has been lots going on (again)  Yay to that, I say!

Zippered pouch construction

Of course, more zippered pouches are being made.  Always the zippered pouches.  I am seriously addicted to making them.  I am slowly building up some stock, ready to open my etsy store.  Soon, soon, I will get there.  I was buzzing last Friday as I sold a total of 7, yes seven, zippered pouches to two separate friends here in Hong Kong. It is such a thrill to see people love your creations.

Tooth Pillow

Abbey is so excited to finally have some wobbly baby teeth.  She has watched so many of her friends lose their first, and subsequent teeth.  It was not until a few weeks ago that she got her first wobbly tooth, now there are 3 wobbly ones that I can tell.  I am secretly making her this cute tooth fairy pillow.

Red Ric Rac dress

Lastly, I really need to finish this new skirt.  One for me!  I have had this fabric to make me a skirt for 2 years now. Ridiculous I know.  I have been making hair bobbles out of this fabric, but thought I better make my skirt now before there was no fabric left for a skirt.

Quack quack

I am using the pattern New Look 6843, view A.  I already have 3 other skirts using this pattern, and I love and wear them all the time.  It is very quick and easy to make and very comfortable to wear.  This time I adjusted the pattern and tapered in the side seams a little.  I actually made it last month, really quickly one night, it was completed apart from the hem and the button hole.  I got it in my head I just had to have red ric-rac around the hem, so my new dress has been unfinished until now (I finally got to Sham Shui Po last weekend for the ric-rac)

Today I will sew on this cute little duckie button, and tomorrow I will be wearing my brand new, hand made skirt.

What have you been making?

Have a great day lovelies.

My (red delicious) Creative Space

Take one cheeky girl turning two next week.  She usually has a dirty face.  She now has two chipped front teeth. A silly smile we see so often. A home made gift from mamma is in order.  Made with love.

That silly smile. Again.

Add a pile of gorgeous fabric.  A red theme is happening here.

Red delicious

Slice and sew and arrange lovely fabric.

Hello from Shropshire!

Welcome to Shropshire

Hello lovelies.  As crazy as it sounds, we were in Hong Kong for only 2 weeks, and now we are in Shropshire, England.  It was all very last minute, to fit in a long overdue visit with the Shropshire boys family before Abbey starts at her new Hong Kong kinder.

Red phone box cuddle

I hope I get my fill of red phone boxes while we are here, gosh I love them.

I will be back blogging again in a week or so, when we get back to Hong Kong.

Cheers for now, Cat.

My Creative Space

Not much creating has been going on this week as we have a sick bubba in the house. I have been looking at the sewing machine, longingly, wanting to finish off a few things I started weeks ago.

The only thing I have managed to finish all week was this little owl. Last Thursday I saw this adorable post on My Creative Space, and I had to make one. Right then and there. At 10pm at night. As you do (following this easy tute)

More creative peeps over here, go and have a look, you might try some thing new :)

Handmade Christmas Challenge

Two more Christmas presents finished this week. One pink and one red pin cushion.

I have written my list of out standing presents, it is good to see it in print, and slowly tick off items as I make or buy them.

Visit Tracey at Knicky Knacks for lots more Handmade Christmas goodies.

Have a lovely weekend.

Week-a-boo: our weekend

Yesterday, we had a (very casual) afternoon tea party to celebrate Zoe's first birthday. My mum made a fantastic lady bug cake, and my dear friend Nell made cupcakes, which we decorated with some icing lady bugs (made by Bel from Enticing Icing)

It was a lovely afternoon tea, being surrounded by close friends and family, celebrating Zoe's first year. We had a surprise visitor too - my QLD sister-in-law Stepfie "gate crashed" the party. My littlest brother was going away for the weekend on a man-cation (as Stepfie called it), so he booked her a flight to Melbourne, and my mum (just) managed to keep it a secret all week. It was the most lovely surprise, we have not seen her since our holiday back in July.

I thoroughly enjoyed a glass of pink champagne, but was too busy taking to everyone to manage a second glass (how annoying, hehe)

Abbey helped open most of the birthday girls presents, and also had to blow out the candle on the cake. Big sisters can be very helpful.

I am sure the best bit for Zoe was having her first ever whole piece of cake (not just a mouthful, but her own piece) She really enjoyed it, and managed to get red icing in both her ears too.

Hope you have had a lovely weekend too. Visit Claire for more week-a-boo's, and visit Kasia for more weekend fun.
Cheers, Cat.

My (dolly) creative space

My week has been consumed with stolen moments, to finish making this doll in time for Zoe's first birthday yesterday. I made it in time - just.

I've never made a doll before, it was fun trying some thing new.

I enjoyed choosing all the different fabrics. I think I am addicted to fabric.

Some lessons were learnt. Such as, 4.30pm any day of the week is the children's witching hour, don't even attempt to embroider a dolls face. You may forget to read the instructions properly, and embroider her a brown mouth instead of a red one. I ran out of energy to start again, I just went over the brown with some red, a one year old will never notice.

The skirt is reversible, so she already has a different outfit in her wardrobe.

I may call her Dotty - do you think this name suits her? I can't call her Ruby Lou like the pattern as I have a niece called Ruby, it could get a little confusing for everyone.

Here she is, almost nudey-rudey, with no skirt on.

She turned out alright, methinks. Not sure if Dotty will survive a one year old, am I mean not letting Zoe play (chew) with it? Or should I just relax and let her do as she will, it is her dolly after all.

Lots more lovely creative spaces over here.

Have a lovely day peeps, Cat
