A large proportion of British Topographical prints were published in series, where the series would typically be a single or multiple volume topographical book. This area of the website contains a collection of gallery pages for these topographical print series, organised chronologically, with bibliographical details of the source books.
Approximately one third of these series are of national scope. The remainder are less wide in range, relating to towns, counties or regions. These have been categorised by the counties they relate to, and their details are presented on their respective county pages, at the bottom of the right navigation pane.
The following bibliographical references are being included:
Abbey - for topographical plate books 1770-1860, relating to Great Britain and Ireland, containing aquatints or lithographs.
Tooley - for English published plate books 1790-1860 containing colour plates.
Upcott - for English regional topographical books printed before 1818.
Somers Cox - for books containing sets of two or more Devon prints.
