I have a healthy amount of sewing time this week, so up first is quilting my Cloud 9 Fabrics quilt (mostly featuring Rain Walk by Anna Graham). It's such an autumnal quilt and I'm really enjoying quilting the wonky crosses with 4 different motifs: swirls, rainbow-like baptist fans (one of my favorites ever), planks, and pebbles. My friend Neva gave me the idea at our recent sewing night. I'm using my trusty Aurifil #2326; this quilt called for a beige/tan color instead of my typical dove/light gray.
I love looking at the back almost as much as quilting the front. Quilting on my home machine is SO much fun!
I'm planning on quilting the sides/low volume part in a wavy wood-grain fashion. I'd love to finish it before the guild meeting on Tuesday. I even have the binding made already! :) Speaking of which, I have two other projects that need to be bound. I should probably just finish them already, right? Is binding procrastination a thing?
Plank design - tutorial by Christina Cameli. I like making mine wonky!
I should be able to get a full picture of this quilt next week. Stay tuned!

The quilting is looking really lovely, and woodgrain is such a fun pattern to quilt. I bet you'll have it all done in time for the meeting. Binding procrastination is totally a thing. For me the procrastination usually comes when I need to make the binding roll, but you've made it that far; you can do it! :)
ReplyDeleteI love binding!!! However, I just finished a quilt that took me 2 years to bind. I love the quilting that you are doing on this quilt.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's just a binding procrastination...it's just the quilting task which is the least fun to work on. It's different for each person. For me, it's the quilting part. I haven't gotten out of the walking foot stage which goes only so far. Whenever the quilting gets done ( I don't want to think of the finished tops I have. ) Putting the binding on means the end is near so that's finished pretty quickly.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing your Cloud 9 finish...looks good from the peeks you provided.
I wonder, what is the measurement for a "healthy amount of sewing time"? All these quilting patterns looks like so much fun! The finished quilt is going to have the best texture!
ReplyDeleteLove your quilting and I hear what you're saying about the binding... it's like 5% of the work of a quilt, but still one puts it off. So close to done!
ReplyDeleteLove the colours and your quilting looks great :)
ReplyDeleteWhat fun, and so very nice! Can't wait to see the finish!
