Confident Stitch Face Mask

I am a proud to be an affiliate for Confident Stitch of Missoula, Missouri. For the month of June, they will be donating 15% of sales to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. They sent me some fabrics that had been on my wish list for a bit. This seafaring print is Siren Song in Twilight from Art Gallery Fabrics. Accompanying this treasure is the OLFA 28mm Quick Change Rotary Cutter, a Sunflower Quilts Thread Cutter, and Organic Embroidery by Meredith Woolnough for Schiffer Publishing.

I also snatched up some Pop fabric by Rashida Coleman Hale for Ruby Star Society in Cream Soda and Art Gallery Lightwave in Ignite from Katarina Roccella's GRID collection. It's chilling with a little trinket I found at Dollar Tree, my Fairy Floss Pink Olfa Splash, and Aurifil thread.

So I made the thing that everyone is making. I don't really enjoy it, but beautiful fabric helps. I used Dana of Made Everyday's pattern and modified it by adding some binding to the sides. I cut the height of the binding 1" longer than the sides of the mask after pleating by 2 1/2", then turned the top and bottom under with a Clover Hot Ruler. I folded it in half the long way with wrong sides together, and then opened it and folded each raw edge into the pressed center line. Instead of ever-elusive elastic, I chopped up some leggings my daughter wore while acrylic painting. I pulled both sides through a pony bead and tied each end to make adjustments possible. I laid the elastic in place and then sewed the binding on which was a bit precarious. I could have used more pins or less haste, or both. Or I could have threaded the knit through the binding, but that thought seemed like risky business too. I'd at least want a bodkin or trusty safety pin.

I commend you mask-makers. Stay safe everyone!

Quilt Market: Michael Miller

How about a tour around the Michael Miller fall Quilt Market booth? And if you're bored with being all cooped up, check out the #makingitfun YouTube channel.

Michael Miller is celebrating 20 years. Remember when Polaroid quilts were everywhere you looked? Well, this is a pretty sweet flashback.

On the left you see Cotton Couture and the right features Woodland Musicians which ships in April. The And The Band Plays On quilt pattern will be free and available in April.

Here's a bit more Cotton Couture, which added 38 new earthy colors in September.

Dog Show is a whimsical novelty line featuring your greatest companion. The Dog Show Portrait Quilt is a free pattern by Susan Emory.

The Eat, Sleep, Garden Quilt made up in the collection releasing this month by the same name is designed by Sam Hunter.

The Beary Christmas Quilt pattern by Wendy Sheppard using the Red & White collection will be available in June.

I appreciate humor in The Mushroom Fan Club by Elise Gravel. Below is a glimpse of the Funky Fungi quilt by Heidi Pridemore.

Quilt Market: Tilda

Tilda's perfectly imperfect world is always cozy, beautiful, and full of infinite possibilities.

Fall Quilt Market introduced shops to Happy Camper and Bon Voyage.

Tilda has gifted sewers with free project patterns for each of the newest lines.

I'll start us off with designs using Happy Camper.

The Kimono Girl Pillow made up in Happy Camper is a great idea for a shorter term commitment than a full-fledged quilt.

For those in need of a longer-term distraction, the Kimono Girls Quilt, measuring in at 62" x 78 1/2", awaits. All the girls are made the same way, but using different prints. The pattern includes instructions for two colorway options.

The Flowers and Bees Quilt with fabrics from Happy Camper and Meadow Basics (on the left) is made with two blocks (Flower and Bee) from the Mix & Match collection.

Bon Voyage is coming this summer.

Bon Voyage is inspired by ceramics, but given a more subdued color palette. The popular floral blender "Sophie" is back in four new colors. The collection is a combination of large scale and smaller scale designs, making it versatile enough for any project.

Patterns will include the Butterfly Quilt, Flowerpot Quilt, Me & My Dog Quilt, Fia Doll, and Blue Pillow.

Quilt Market: FreeSpirit

Hey, hey we're the monkeys.
And people say we monkey around.

Tula Pink has gone bananas!

"Monkey Wrench tells the story of a mischievous monkey named Bananas...Bananas has a simple mission, and that is to distract you from the mundane and introduce a little spontaneity into your life whether you like it or not."

"The moral of the story is choose fun, give in to happiness, keep your eyes peeled, and DON'T SLIP on the bananas!"

It's quite certain last year's potential division closure by Coats & Clark, and last minute redemption by Jaftex certainly made for a wrench in the lives of the Free Spirit designers. However, come Market, they were glowing with a vivacious glimpse of the future.

The Monkey Wrench collection, coming this September, has 19 prints, 3 wide backs, and precuts.

Anna Maria showed off her booth full of moody, deep hues in a spectrum of hues.

Quilt Market: Windham

The Windham booth at Quilt Market Kansas City was a hip-happening place. Let me show you around. The Take Flight quilt by Natalie Crabtree and quilted by Holly Seever was such a beauty and a perfect selfie spot.

It wasn't the only butterfly in the booth though, there was also this Nature Study quilt pattern by Tamara Kate that was made up in Fantasy by Sally Kelly.

The Rapunzel's Tower quilt features Far, Far Away 2 by Heather Ross.

Using the same collection, here's Dreams and Stars.

Windham hosted numerous events that were full of inspiration. Sun Queen is shown below in Jessica VanDenburgh's Juniper.

Artisan Cotton by Another Point of View is highlighted below.

While the main booth was partitioned into tiny spaces for different collections, the amount of treasures to behold in each was astounding. For instance, check out the stall for Juniper by Jessica VanDenburgh.

Good Vibes Only by Shayla Wolf of Sassafras Lane was a technicolor rainbow of glee. Check out the blog tour for Shayla's line on her blog.

I adored this brilliant use of cork cut out to reveal underlaid piecing in the Bubba Bowling Bag.

I thoroughly enjoyed hear about the design process for The Opposite / Palette by Marcia Derse. She was so exuberant about experimenting with color and artistic mediums that hearing from her was enamoring. I was drawn into her world of exploration, paint, and play. Art journaling meets fabric in her new line.

Speaking of that, how about a charm pack giveaway? Enter below.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Pink Lemonade by Tessie Fay, coming in October, is a sweet collection.

Shown below on the wall is Rays of Sunshine by Heidi Pridemore and Sunburst Picnic Blanket by you and Mie is hanging from the top ladder rung.

Park Avenue by Natalie Crabtree hangs from the lower rung.

Thanks for the visit. See you later for more Market fun.
