Lucky Finds from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's a grocery shopping day, but there's no rush. As I'm writing it's still dark as night outside. We'll at least wait for the sun to come up.

It was a lucky day of sewing yesterday. It was my day to add the thread work to the "Mosaic" quilt. My hope was that the thread work would bring definition to the main subject of my quilt, and in that, I was successful. It worked out better than expected. And how could I go wrong when I had so many kitty helpers ...

Making Progress from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Just as I wrote those words, I looked out the window to see snow falling in wet, fat flakes.

Looks like a good day to stay at home, and that's exactly what I'll be doing. It'll be just like yesterday, only Monday-er. Here's how old I am: I look forward to Mondays and a new round of crossword puzzles in my email. I like the ones from the New Yorker. Monday's is always the hardest, and they get easier through the week...which tricks me into thinking I'm getting smarter ...

I have been traveling and teaching. I picked up my friend and fellow Studio 180 Design Certified Instructor Barb Wiseman, we left Pennsylvania and went west to Lexington, KY and met up with another fellow Studio 180 Design Certified Instructor Toni Raynolds. Barb and Toni assisted me while teaching One Block Wonder and a Hollow Cube 60 classes at Thomas Sewing Center. What a fabulous time we had! Thank you Toni for taking such good care of Barb & I.

Thank you to Thomas Sewing Center owner Alysson Rife and everyone who attended. I had a great time.

Sew Business from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's looking like rain for the next week or so. There's going to be lots of sewing time, I'm afraid. I have a couple of outings planned for the coming week. Mainly, I'll be hanging out in the sewing room with the kitties.

Yesterday, I finished up the 7th of seven small stitcheries for the Girls' Getaway quilt.

From there, I studied the pattern so that I could trim all of them to size. It wasn't easy since I couldn't see any place where the pattern gave specific instructions for ...

Internet! Trouble continues from Quilts....etc.

Internet is down and sounds like no one can come out before Thursday to fix it.  At the same time I’m having issues with my email.    It is hard to get anything done on the phone so I might not blog again until the end of the week. I’m trying to figure out how […]

Lotsa Sewing from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We're moving into "Sew Season," not to be confused with "Snow Season." We do get snow here, but mostly, we get rain. And, thus, "sew season." I had a couple of other things to do yesterday too. In spite of the grown-up stuff, I still had a good sewing day.

When I arrived home from my voyage into town a couple of days ago, I was dazzled by this holdout of our Autumn trees. This one is on the south side of the house. At this time of year, the sun is low on our ...

Having Computer Issues from Quilts....etc.

A Wish Comes True from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. If you read yesterday's post, then you might remember when I said this:

If I can wish for anything  today, it will be that the rain lets up at least a little bit.

Well, my friends, I'm here to tell you that wishes come true sometimes. I was out in the bright sunshine and nary a drop of rain. Even after being away from home for around four hours...no rain. Lucky me.

Before leaving home, I had plenty of time for slow-stitching. I was able to turn the first corner on the Beach ...

Some Regular Sewing from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I'm writing fast today...although, not too fast. I have an eye exam this morning. I get my eye exams at an optometrist office located inside a Costco store. I'm not a fan of Costco, and the only time I set foot inside the store is for my annual eye exam. Fortunately, it's in a smaller town south of downtown Portland, and so it's an easy drive. I awakened to pouring rain this morning. We've received almost a full inch of rain in the past 24 hours. If I can wish ...

The Quilting Experience from Prairie Moon Quilts

My bestie, Victoria Findlay Wolfe, has a new book out. It actually came out in September, but I took time to read all the way through mine before posting about it. It’s so wonderful!

It’s called “The Quilting Experience: A Celebration of Community and Patchwork Patterns”.

This book is a lovely, hard-cover book with soooo many stories included. Stories from quilters about why they quilt, how they got started, special projects they’ve made, what quilts mean to them, fun they’ve had at quilting events or in quilting groups, and so much more.

And there are lots ...

A Little Show and Tell from Romany Quilting

My friends Robyn, Shirley and myself take turns hosting a lunch every few months.  Sadly, their husbands have passed away, but the six of us used to get together in earlier years.  Robyn was the hostess this week, so it was us three girls plus my Robin.  The last man standing, they joke.

After our tasty lunch and a good catch-up we had some show and tell.  Robyn and Shirley both do a little quilting and Shirley had brought along a couple of things to show us.  She had recently finished this top featuring nine patches and snowball blocks on ...

Plenty of Sewing from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's been raining almost steady here for the past several days. During a lull in the downpour yesterday, I opened the door for the kitties and noticed all the leaves and pine needles littering our deck.

These are all from this tree. Here's how it looked about a week ago.

Here's how it looked yesterday.

Sad, isn't it? It's been a beautiful fall season, and we've enjoyed some decent weather well into the month of November. I'm afraid that's over now, and we'll settle into our web-footed ...
