Hawkes Bay is always sunny from Romany Quilting

The Hawkes Bay is generally sunny and warm, and although we had a couple of chilly nights, the days were glorious.  We spent a couple of days at Napier NZMCA Park and our neighbours were intrigued that we travel with a cat and came over to say hello to Gemma.

At Napier NZMCA Park

These NZMCA parks always have a book swap and I found this helpful book there, Crafty Girls Road Trip.  Although 10 years old, there is still plenty of information that will be relevant.  I'll keep the book in the caravan for when we are tripping ...

NOSTALGIA from Q-BITS

In an effort to use up some of my fabric/scraps, I need to make more quilts!!!  In this effort, I thought I would make a new table runner to use with my pink transferware dishes.  I've had a yard of solid blue fabric around for probably at least 20 years; and, also, a bin marked 'depression era reproductions' left over from projects in 2001 and 2004.  I like pastel quilts with a black background; but since I had this blue I thought I would give it a try.  I think it kind of works???

It is always interesting ...

Logs at Lochiel 61, 62, 63, 64, 65 from Virtual Quilter

I like the first design of this week’s Log Cabin design variations.

The second design is very interesting!

Another interesting design.

Just a thought … Log Cabin blocks would be a good substitute for an autograph book, with the signatures added to the light strips, with the option of adding embroidery.

On second thought, I would add signatures to quilts with less blocks than those in the collection, but the general idea would make a great family heirloom in any size.

My favourite today is the second design.

That is all for this week … more Log Cabin design’s mid ...

Just My Type Quilt from Tamarack Shack

Gail made this fun Just My Type quilt, pattern by Pen and Paper Patterns.  She used a variety of fabrics from her stash to create her floral version of this pattern.  I watched Gail make this quilt over the last few months at our quilting group that meets once a week.  It was fun to see what letters she finished each week.

I took the above picture yesterday, no snow and mild temperatures.  Then today we had 3 inches of rain with the possibility of it turning to snow tonight. So we might wake up to some snow on the ...

Mini thimbles from Espritpatch

A few weeks back, a new sew along started to sew fussy cut mini thimbles with Happy Sew Lucky. I was hoping to keep the pace but failed miserably. I nearly made the first 2 blocks on time and then completely got lost...

Finally this week I've finished 4 little thimbles

I'm hoping I can make a few more here and there...

Change of plans from My Sewing Room

This isn't the best photo, but you can probably see I have an immobilizer on my left knee.

Long story, but I'm dealing with some type of soft tissue injury.  Yesterday afternoon was partially spent in the ER (my second visit this month) as my left knee buckled and wouldn't support me at all.  After lots of X-rays it was determined I have no bone fractures.  So on Thursday morning I'll be at the Orthopedic Institute clinic to see what comes next, which will most likely include an MRI.

In the meantime I can hobble around ...

Lucky Finds from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's a grocery shopping day, but there's no rush. As I'm writing it's still dark as night outside. We'll at least wait for the sun to come up.

It was a lucky day of sewing yesterday. It was my day to add the thread work to the "Mosaic" quilt. My hope was that the thread work would bring definition to the main subject of my quilt, and in that, I was successful. It worked out better than expected. And how could I go wrong when I had so many kitty helpers ...

All Day Long, In All Directions - from Quiltville's Quips & Snips!

It's a sight to behold. Every day.

The tree trucks are still rumbling up and down the highways and byways - in both directions in front of Quiltville Inn.

I wave as they go by.

Harvest began early November, but with a forecast of snow coming this weekend, everyone is in a hurry to get the job done and get the trees to where they need to be -

The big tree selling weekend begins Black Friday - it takes a bit of time to get things to where they are going.

And some folks don't wait for trucks.  They bring ...

A Quick Stripy Quilt Back from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

Piecing a Scrappy Back for the Hope’s Path Quilt

Sometimes quilting projects don’t go as planned—like when I completely forgot to order backing for the Hope’s Path Quilt. This is a quilt that is so is special to me. I share the rights with Quilts for a Cause. An organization that raises money to combat cancer by selling quilts. I was working under a tight, self imposed deadline. While it might sound stressful, it turned into an unexpected creative opportunity!

Why? Well, I decided to piece together a Snazzy Stripy Quilt Back made solely from my ...

Rose quilt from Stitching Matters

The quilt maker bought a kit called The Rose Quilt.  The only thing rosy about this quilt was the rose-printed fabric but she enjoyed making it and did a good job.

With its name, I decided to do an edge-to-edge design called cabbage rose with loops and leaves.

Life is about having FUN! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I don't know if any of you read the comments, but I have a super supporter named Elle! She's been through this journey with her Mother, where she had to clean out that house in one day! It sounds like Elle took charge of her life many years ago, and what she possesses today is pretty much what she needs—although she seems to find things from time to time that they no longer need, and they're gone.

So, I have a love/hate relationship with her! I want to be like her, and I KNOW I ...

QOV Progress, and Hurricane Quilts from From My Carolina Home

Last week I needed to get busy on two Quilts of Valor. This one was loaded onto the longarm, but I didn’t get it done until midweek. I really like the way the piecer, Judy, did the borders around the panel, with pinwheel blocks and small eagles creating a frame.

I quilted it with my favorite pantograph for QOVs, a star and swirl design called Blue Star from Urban Elementz.

I chose a light blue Glide thread for the top, and a matching color Bottom Line in the bobbin. I thought the pale blue would blend well on the ...

Birdhouse Quilts from Happy Cottage Quilter

 Birdhouse Quilts

A great place to stop if you are traveling on Interstate 75. Located in Byron GA, just a stone throw off the interstate.

Every time we travel that way, we make a point of stopping.  Such a lovely shop. And the nicest people. Large selection of fabric, patterns and panels. I was looking for a panel to make for a girl at church who is expecting a baby. I don't know her very well, so I thought I would make a simple gift.  The shop also has a large selection of sale fabric.

4 more.................. from Exuberant Color

There are 16 more blocks sewn, 4 alike of 4 different combinations of fabric.  I searched for more fabrics to cut while I did laundry yesterday morning.

I also cut more of the 2" finished triangles from the waste fabric.  Now I wish I knew what I did with the first stack.  I know I had them upstairs when I took a photo of them a few days ago and then I carried them to the basement to look for a small storage box.  I didn't find a box but.....where did I put the triangles?

Rain most of ...
